"Given his stake, Inouye should've known better."

I agree with that headline. At first, Inouye tried to make it sound as though one of his staff members made the call "on his/her own," without his knowledge. WHAT? I don't believe him for a second.

You missed the Barney Franks fiasco--Tarp money is being used to peddle influence of Congress--to help constituencies and grow government influence and NOT TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY

Finally the Bull gets it right.

The diabolical mastermind behind the Akaka bill, Inouye uses Akaka as a puppet on a string to advance a bill that, although guised to "help Hawaiians" is really a ploy to steal the Hawaiian home lands and their beneficiaries 5(f) share, and give it to the mini-maoles in a fake Indian Akaka tribe.

Here, in this case, we have a clear depiction that Inouye lacks the core value of honesty and integrity and violates the public trust to further, ultimately, his own financial interest.

Both he and Akaka are fast aging dinosaurs of a past era of cronyism and corruption.

Those days will end soon as corruption always collapses under the weight of a commitment to integrity.

Out with the old and in with the New.

Aloha:

After trusting U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye as our voice in Congress for the past 50 years, I would trust him before the neo-cons' D.C. newspaper.

My guess is that the Washington Post has been watching our Senator very closely for all of these years to try pin something on him, and this was the closest they could get.

After listening to the Senator's explanation, it is evident that the Post is on a witchhunt, probably put up to it by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich, Fox cable television et al.

Dan, who is now the third most senior member of the United States Senate and chair of the most powerful committee in that august body, is too honest and too smart to play into the hands of the GOP criminal element in D.C. or their pawns in the media.

He is a cunning pompous big head, elected over and over again because here in Hawaii nobody cares about politics. We are a lazy bunch and vote (if and when we do)for a name that we recognize. Is Good? Bad?
No matter, he is been in the Senate 30 years + so maybe he is good. Wrong. Can someone name a major legislation proposed (and passed) by our useless Senator?

Sorry Keith, but I think you are confusing the Washington Post with the Washington TIMES, that IS a neo-con rag..Limbaugh and the rest of the kooks regulary bash the Post as "mainstream Liberal media" which we all know is shibai as the corporations own the media outlets and throw their own agenda around..With Inouye?..this does smell bad, he does stand to lose alot of money...hmmm

Do your job Bulletin and reveal what already know to be true -- tell us the real story behind the Sandwich Isle's takeover of Hawaiian Telcom and the UH President search fiasco.

Your reporters know who's behind all of this.

Enjoy having Inouye (and Alkaka) while you can. We are very lucky to have two powerful senior senators.
Say what you will, but Inouye brings more than his fair share of pork to the people of Hawaii. His goal in life is to get as much of, and everything he can out of Washington for the folks back home in Hawaii.

When he is gone, Hawaii will be at the bottom of the food chain with very junior senators. Enjoy the gravey train while you can.

Time for our two Dans to preside in another world. They hooked the populace on the dope of government funded pork that 'only they could provide' with votes to keep them in power. Soon there will be no Dans and the pork will be gone. Larger states like California, Florida and Texas are starting to realize that they are contributing more to the coffers but are getting less. Hawaii relied on pork like a welfare recipient relies on their check from Uncle Sam. We were never prepared to become self sufficient, only to rely on these two Dumb Dans. Say Hi to Mink for me boys,,, I know it's gonna be warm where you are going.

Since they reported something that could reflect poorly on Saint Dan. Sure he should have known better, but the fact is, he doesn't care. He's in there for life and he knows it. He's going to be another Robert Byrd.
