Where did you go to find out about channel changes?

I live in small town, Oklahoma and I'm hoping we are gonna get some more channels! Actually, We only have just under 38 now- so I'd be happy if we could just get a few more of the basic cable channels.

Hi Pat,

I live in the Ruston area too. Moved here about 18 months ago. Before we moved, I noticed that Cox had MUCH fewer channels that we'd had with Comcast in our former location, and we were paying less money there. So before we moved (this was in January of '05) I wrote to Cox asking about certain channels that we had with Comcast that Cox here was not carrying, specifically Noggin/The N, Hallmark, Hallmark Movie Channel, Nicktoons, Nick GAS, EWTN, QVC, Bravo, and National Geographic. That's nine channels. There were more that we were getting with Comcast, but those were the nine that we really would be missing. We were paying $5.00 a month LESS with Comcast.

Anyway, Cox wrote back to say that they were "in the process" of rebuilding the system in Ruston and would be adding all of those channels "in the near future." That was obviously a lie. I don't believe they've ever had any intention of upgrading anything around here. I think Ruston is too small of a market for them to worry about.

The first thing Suddenlink did when they took over was to get rid of even more channels, including PAX/i, and they have not replaced them with anything.

I've just dropped the digital and the expanded basic with them. It's just not worth all the money we were paying for really, really substandard service.

I am from San Angelo. A month ago, I tried to get a phone line for my home from Suddenlink. They came and installed the service, but it did not work!!! I called Suddenlink using my cell phone to try to get them to solve the problem and they put me on hold for over 25 minutes. I called again the next day, and did not get any help. I cancelled the service and switched to Verizon, but a week later I got a bill for 35.00 dollars (for the installation). I could not get them to give me a refund even though I never got to use their service. I am in the process of switching my internet service to Verizon.

Suddenlink terminated many talented folk....a move like that is indication that the management team on board are not to bright which mean we as subscribers will suffer from their inability to provide good customer service. I refuse to call the call center in Tyler because of the ill trained reps that don't have a clue as to what they are advising customers on their services. Please become educated on what services you have with Suddenlink and how it works so you're not directed to buy something that is just not necessary or told a flat out lie about a Tech coming out to fix a problem.

I switched my phone service to Cox (now Suddenlink) because of the promises (lies) made about the service. In particular, the statement that the FCC holds to a much higher standard for phone lines because of the 911 service and I would "always" have a working phone and, should the service ever go out, it would be out "no more" than an hour or two.

Phone and internet went out yesterday afternoon. Called Suddenlink. Was told it would take 24-48 hours before anyone could be out to "fix" it as it all appeared just fine in the technical center. After much fussing and threatening to call the PUC on them, I was "given" and appointment the next day. I asked to speak to a supervisor and, suddenly, an "outage" had been reported in my area ... and my phone/internet came back on ... sporadically.

Called again around 10 p.m. and got good ol' Earl who informed me it showed my phone and internet were working on his end. Click. Yup he hung up on me.

I called right back and, finally, got someone who cared enough to try to work with me to get the problem solved. Wyatt was a blessing. Short version was he repowered my modem and numerous problems were solved in one motion. Phone was working, internet was working, internet connections were no longer dragging and I was able to sleep well knowing I had 911 service during the night should I need it!

THANK YOU, WYATT!!!!!!!!!! You were the ONLY person at Suddenlink who cared enough to do you job!

Will I ever get cable telephone service again? Not just no, but HELL NO!

I have Suddenlink (formerly Cebridge) and am hoping the service will improve but I doubt it. The Internet is slow and the channel selection is limited. I would switch ISPs in a minute if I had a choice.

I got rid of my phone line a few years ago and went to cell phones and I am thinking about going back to a land line for the DSL.

If you have a choice go DSL over Suddenlink.

Here's why Suddenlink sucks

No INDemand Howard Stern TV available in Abilene TX

I've had countless digital cabel signal failures while watching PPV Sports Events.
During "Sopranos" season the cable signal blacked out for a half hour

They dont offer enough channels

Satellite anyone?

I am an employee with Suddenlink. After reading all of the postings on this site, I have noticed a trend, if you will. It is not really Suddenlink's services that are sub-standard, but the technicians. I have every channel we have to offer, and have compared our line up to that of the dish providers. I must tell you, they are not that much different. Of course, there will be channels that we do not offer. A good example of this would be the the person complaining about the fact that the "Horse Racing Channel" is not available in his or her area. I mean, really, if a hand full of people want to view an obscure channel, should the rates of the other 1.1 million subscibers with Suddenlink feel the burden of increased rates to appease these select few? You must understand that EVERYBODY pays for new channels. Suddenlink takes great pains to provide channels to our subscribers that the MAJORITY want to see. You always have the opption to switch to dish. You also have the opption to pay the $99 service charge involved if something should go wrong after the first 30 days of your subscription. It is simply a matter of balancing what most want against what a few want. The few simply are not going to win this battle. As far as your internet connections are concerned, speed isn't an issue if the modem is working properly. It is either online, or it isn't. If it seems to be slow, try cleaning up your p.c. If you have several instant messaging programs running, or spy ware in it, or it is choked with temporary files, the problem is probably your own, NOT your ISP's.

Today I called Suddenlink and asked them what I had to do in order to move my account to them since apparently they are purchasing the New Iberia area. The woman said it will move automatically. I then asked her if I could add local HD to my account, and she said I had to call Cox for that. The woman from Cox said she knows nothing about Suddenlink buying Cox out of New Iberia, and insisted that Acadiana will remain Cox. I checked the Cox channel listing, and it says "Suddenlink (formerly Cebridge)- New Iberia, LA" and "Cox Communications - Lafayette, LA"

Cox has the "Acadiana" area listed as Lafayette, New Iberia, and surrounding areas.. so my question, Harold MC, is what is going on with Suddenlink and Cox? Will my service switch from Cox to Suddenlink and if so, what will the differences be?

So, here we go. We have a defender here.

I must tell you, this is business, you have your promise, you have your contract. Even one channel is BIG difference, kid.

I dont want to understand nor need to understand. I will only look at my contract and see what I get / what I dont get.

[QUOTE who="harold mc"]

I also have an option to file complains, to sue, to tell everyone, and to organize a strike.

I laughed here. Apparently, you forgot Rule #1:"NEVER blame your customer!!!!" You would be fired, if you were in my company.

Anyway, If you have the same programs running today and yesterday and the only thing changed is the ISP provider, everybody can figure out what is the cause, even an idiot......well..unless there is someone worse that that.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Aries

One of the family needs plenty of love and attention today, but the trouble is that you may not be able to spare the time. If so, you'll be consumed with guilt and self-reproach, and this may become so strong that it casts a blight over the day. So do what you can to let them know you're thinking about them, but resist the temptation to berate yourself over things you can't change.
