It costs $50 a year - that is just over $4 a month - I think it is affordable

I had a Costco card, it was one of the perks at my company. I found that I really didn't save any money shopping there, food wise anyway. I tend to buy a lot of market basket brand name products and they are cheaper than what Costco has (I found the same with BJ'S). I don't have any babies living with me, so not sure if the savings are there with diapers, formula and baby food.

The middle class will never catch a break, we seem to always get the shaft.

Have you been to the malls lately? I was at the Burlington Mall a few weeks ago and it was pretty empty.
I am kind of shocked that more stores aren't doing lay-a-ways anymore. When my kids were little I usually did a lay-a-way at K-mart or Walmart, they seemed to have dropped them the last few years.

I know I used to put a lay-a-way at Walmart and I was disappointed that they had stopped. They do lay-a-way's at K-Mart and at Sears.
I wish Walmart would bring it back though.
I've been to the Pheasant Lane Mall just the other night for the first time this year and now I don't feel so bad...because no one else can shop either because there was probably 100 people if that at the mall. No one has any extra money to spare. I know I don't ...but yet you hear on the news that the economy is getting better! You could've fooled me.

Couldnt agree more. I love how I have to bust my a88 everyday and because I "make too much" I cant get food stamps. But you have these people who sit on their fat a88es doing NOTHING, except squirting out more babies with different fathers and they live better than me. Pretty sad.

That's because Democrats are the majority in Congress and the President is one too. They are notorious for pushing these Social programs down people's throats. They are ruining the economy so fast that it's only a matter of time until most of the country is out of work and depending on unemployment, welfare, food stamps ,WIC, etc. and Costco would stand to lose alot of future revenue if they don't accept it.

I'm sure they can affort the 50 dollar fee, the sect-8 family down the street from me just bought their kids a puppy, 2 dirt bikes and a go-cart!
when the state pays for your food, rent, medical and clothing there's plenty left to splurge!

that was my point! if you cant afford to feed your family without govt assistance why are you splurging the $50 on a costco membership...and if they are waiving the fees for welfare recipients then that is discrimination against the working class!

yikes! Now I will have to wait even longer in the sample lines at Costco. It's gonna be bad with those freeloaders shopping there...Mary joe and her 12 kids will be eating them all up..none for me...Guess I will have to find a new place to eat while i shop.

LOL...I had to laugh....Costco knows food stamps are garanteed every month-but working folks who get laid off are not....what a way to capitalize on the greed of the poor and stiff the rest of us..Most food stamp reciepients already do the food pantries easy because they're already in the system, so why give them more? Isn't there anything for anybody that isn't on welfare, SSI? Don't the working unemployed matter anymore?
