Sounds as if Kool Smiles are crooks and the people that make their children go to them are stupid idiots that don't love their children.

I have seen people complain about Kool Smiles from different cities. They get FREE dental care and then want to sue.I work with children and I have seen all the expensive crowns on baby teeth. What a waste.I have dental insurance but it does not pay that much, so even though I work I do not go as often as I should. What a great system we have. Sit on your butt, get free service, then if you do not like it SUE!!!!

From one Mother to another, here is a breif discription of my experience with Kool smiles. One afternoon I was brushing my two year old sons teeth when I noticed a small pin size hole in one of his canine teeth. I immediately got online to find a dentist for my son that would accept my health insurance and when I came upon Kool smiles in the list of providers I was extatic! I had seen their commercials on televison and I knew it would be a great place to bring him because the enitre place was geared toward children his age. I called to setup the appointment which I was able to get very qucikly (now I know why). We arrived the morning of our visit and my son could not have been more excited to find a little climbing area with a slide and other children to play with while he waited, I thought "what a great idea to make the dentist seem like a fun place to try to ease the fear of the little ones instead of having them sitting in a waiting room fearing what would happen when it was their turn". I filled out the usual new patient paper work and after about 40 minutes we were in the room getting x rays and an exam. When the dentist came in the room to examine my sons teeth and look over his x rays she had found that he had six cavities in his mouth and she decided that it would be appropriate to grind down all six teeth and put metal caps on each one of them, I expressed my concern that the cavities were so small they were hardly noticable to the naked and eye and I didnt see why such extreme measures needed to be taken for such small holes. The dentist had explained to me that they are not able to fill cavities in young childrens mouths because they dont last very long when the cavities are "so deep" and that in their office they will not fill them because it isnt their policy. I was very disheartened with their soultion to fix my two years olds teeth so much so that I had decided to go and get a second opinion. I called a new office and got an appointement for four weeks later. When I brought him to this dentist the cavities had gotten alot worse because they were untreated for several weeks while I was waiting to have him seen. We went in the examination room and and had the same exam done, and they reviewed his x rays and the dentist told me that the cavities were so minimal that he wouldnt even need to use novocaine to get them filled since they were only on the surface and had not reached the nerve (mind you kool smiles couldnt fill them because they were "so deep"). He said there was no way that he would need to have any of his teeth capped because the cavities were so minimal. Walking out of the office that day I had felt such a huge sigh of relief that my toddler didnt have to have his teeth ground down and metal caps placed over them! Needless to say I would NOT recommend Kool smiles in anyway they are money hungry and would go as far as putting an innocent two year old through many painful uncessary trips to the dentist to be left with a mouth full of metal caps just to make a buck. Please dont fall for their commercials... the way they get their money to pay for them is compeletly disheartening and unethical.

All written below is the truth, its just lip service here no true service ,they are very greedy, one doctor is required to see 7 patients an hour. ex doc wrote: I was a doc with Kool Smiles. They will go down. Dr. Tu Tran is a fake!! He should be ashamed of himself for lying to the docs and to himself. His sister in law works for small smiles. They are all linked together. Small Smiles had to pay 10million dollars to the feds to avoid criminal charges. People, you can make a difference. They are both under federal investigation. Just keep reporting it. They don't care about the kids. Dr. Strange threatens the children with needles, and fusses at the docs for not making enough production. The office managers and CTL's get bonuses from day one off doctor's production and number of patients seen. That's why the office managers act so crazy and pack the schedule!! They get money off of the work of the docs. The assitants don't get bonuses and the docs have to work several months before being eligible for bonuses. Your offices are a joke and organized dentistry is teaming with the feds to get you closed down

It doesn't have to be scary. When my oldest was 3 he had baby bottle tooth decay on his front teeth and they removed the decay and filled it. The dentist used a little laughing gas and worked fast. My son cried briefly at one point but they gave him a little more gas. I was right with him while they did it. I took him to buy a toy and he was completely fine after. Went back for future cleanings with no problems. My 2nd son is allowed to sit on my lap during cleanings because he's scared (he's now 3). It doesn't need to be traumatic or overly scary. Shop around and ask how dentists treat children, find out about their philosophy. Every place is different. Find a place that's comfortable for you.

That's a horrible attitude Yes, people in impoverished communities do have bad dental care habits. But does that mean scammers should exploit it, with your money? Does it mean its okay to torture children of negligent and/or uneducated parents.. for money? NO. Aragon Mommy wrote: <quoted text> THANK YOU! Who complains about something that is free???? Freeloaders, if you don't like it, quit smoking or going to the gym so you can pay for better care. That's how life is .. or should be anyway. Unfortunately, there is this sense of entitlement that just keeps growing and growing. ENOUGH! You deadbeats are like someone who bitches about getting free hotdogs at a cookout thinking for some reason you should be served steak.

Fed Up: No. The "free" dental care is provided by scammers who want to load them up with unecessary work and pain (in many cases, no novocaine) just to scam the system. why complain

People sit and complain about a dental service that is free and every thing that is done at the office parents sign a consent form. As crowns go for baby teeth, when the decay on teeth is two surfaces or higher dr do recommend crowns and the reason is because on small children cavities tend to grow when the child does have proper dental hygiene. As a parent I would rather have it done once then having my child come back a year or a couple of months after to have a crown or extraction on the same tooth, why torture them! I have to say that state insurance is not the best but at least children have great dental coverage. I hate when adukts have medicaid coverage and they expect everything to be covered and they get upset at the office. Seriously, why be rudeits not our fault your having dental issues plus medicaid is like any other insurance coverage it has its cons and pros. Peoplr just need to stop complaining and parents your child would not have to go through a tramatic experience if made sure they brushed their teeth.

For the record I am not getting paid nor reaping ANY benefit from this...i worked for kool smiles for 3 years and i loved it, I learned alot from working there. The drs are all marvelous, they wouldn't do any unnecessary work in the kids (in fact they were very conservative with treatment plans and treatment) and took the time to make each and every one of their patients (children and parents) as comfortable as they possibly could. Dont hate on every ks office because of the foul-up a couple of them had!!
