I will continue to donate. Too many people are just a breath away from being homeless, or they have been in dire circumstances in the past. You would be surprised to know who some of them are.
But you also think Santa Cruz is safe. You and I live in different worlds.

Santa Cruz's crime rate is higher than most of the country. Santa Cruz has half the police force than most of the country (1.5 officers per 1,000 residents vs. 3.0 per 1,000 residents).

I'd rather spend money on lowering the crime rate, not attracting more desperate people to Santa Cruz.

When you feed pigeons, do you start to get more or fewer pigeons?

__________ You want more money for cops then ,????? Try raising the property taxes and dont say they are already high cuz heres the facts ,,,,,,,,

The top 100 included eight California counties. They ranged from Marin County, which ranked 24th with a property tax median of $4,890 and a median home value of $895,100 to Santa Cruz County, which ranked 99th with a median of $3,318 in taxes paid by homeowners and a median home value of $718,700.

That put Santa Cruz behind counties in Illinois, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Texas and Pennsylvania.

So with rents being the highest in the stae why are property tax's not in sync with that ???? Dont complain about no cops when the people that own the property arent willing to pay a fair and equal tax to protect that property Ok ????

So back to the topic here on this thread ,,,I support the homeless resource center , all its work and efforts and each and every client that recieves services there , and ask and urge all citizens of Santa Cruz to do the same in the name of kindness , compassion ans humanity for those that are for whatever reason less fortunate than ourselves :):)

A simple email check of "Loisel" on the Board of Psychology web site shows that Douglas B Loisel"s license was Cancelled 3/22/04 after issued for the first time two years before. The address listed is 2737 Sunst Ave., The Salvation Army Alegriaa. What might cause a newly minted psychologist to Cancel their license after 2 years? That was 5 years ago. It takes so much effort and time to get licensed there must be a substantial reason.

Hello, Sentinel and Santa Cruz ... DUE PROCESS! He has NOT been convicted of molesting her. He allegedly invited her to a motel with alcohol. "Allegedly" is kind of an important point, folks.
Thank goodness none of any of the rest of us has ever used poor judegment. Then, we might actually understand how hard it is to live among reactionaries. It's also a good thing none of the rest of us had sex before we were 18. Another bullet dodged by snowy-white us.
Did you find out how old the girl was? If she was 10, let's talk perv. If she was 16-17,(which, going to the police on her own, you gotta kinda suspect), it's another story.
Loisel is certainly guilty of poor judgement, but until there's a trial, there's this litle "innocent until proven guilty" constitutional right that we always forget--when the story is juicy enough.

The Sentinel didn't "uncover" this event through any great investigative reporting as they seem to imply. You can be assured that someone called them with the information and it was simply confirmed through public records.
Nonetheless, I'm glad it came out and this person (with appropriate due process) receives whatever he deserves.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Sagittarius

Relationships have been going through through testing times since the Solar Eclipse at last month's New Moon in Gemini on May 20. Events may force you to reevaluate the state of a partnership. You may even decide that you need to make some major adjustments if things are to carry on as you would like. During the coming fortnight leading up to the rare second New Moon in Gemini, this may feel like a crisis, but that doesn't mean you should abandon all hope or throw out the baby with the bathwater.
