Sad, so very sad....knowing Cigna, they will change things, nothing will remain the same as they say. Just wait folks, I see the writing on the wall, they will systematically reduce the fee schedule to match the low rate that is on the Cigna contracts now if you are a provider. At least with Sagamore, physicians were not gouged to death on the fee schedule...sad, so very sad.

This great product is going to begin to lower their fee schedules in order to try to attract more groups. I know they've lost a few big companies to that "colorful" company up there who doesn't pay squat to specialists, but who, due to volume can't drop out. I have a great working relationship with our Sagamore reps at work and usually have no problem with their repricing the claims. It's the payors that usually cause the delay. I've got to hand it to Sagamore that if we do have problems, they're right in there helping us with the insurance.

I would just like to say that Sagamore Insurance Copany has employed my daughter for years and presented her with many opportunities. I only hope that Cigna can continue the same practices for the employers there. It is so rare in this time of jobs changes for Employers treating their employees with gratitude like Sagamore. I too once worked for a company like that. When they left the city I have not found another company like that since. I still grieve like I lost a loved one. So Good work Sagamore, and Good luck to Cigna. Please do not forget the people who depend you for their healthcare.

know your stuff wrote: <quoted text> "Jen" needs to take a look at her insurance card. I'm sure it says Sagamore on it or has the Sagamore logo but her actual insurance company is someone else. Sagamore contracts providers and negotiates discounts if they join their network. Sagamore then partners with insurance companies such as Cigna, United, Advantage...whatever to offer their providers and discounted rates to them. Everyone thinks they have "Sagaomre" because that name is so huge in this state. In reality they only utilize the Sagamore Network of providers thru whomever they may have for an actual insurance carrier. This is correct. Sagamore is simply what is known as a "repricer". It's "Pekin Insurance" or "ABC Health and Casualty" or a self-funded employer that takes the insurance risk. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and hopefully CIGNA will keep the Sagamore model.
