Full story: Hartford Courant

To stanch a political wound that has bled him for months, U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd said Monday he will refinance two mortgages that are the subject of a Senate ethics investigation.

Everybody who wants Dodd's head needs to go away now.

How many of you boneheads have a credit score of 821?

If the documents cleared Dodd for real, he'd have posted them on his web site.

"We were highly sought-after customers, and we went and negotiated, and we got fair rates," Jackie Dodd said"

Yep, being a Senator on the Banking Committee does make you a highly sought after customer for a bank, ya think?

He's a crook. Forget Countrywide - he facilitated the destruction of the American economy by getting in bed with the bankers and the hedge fund traders ... not only did they gut the mortgage markets and destroy home values and put millions out of work, they have gained control of the energy market (see 60 Minutes).

Thanks Chris. You POS criminal collaborator.

Chris Dodd is the ultimate empty suit blow hard. He should enjoy his 18 months left in the Senate because his hubris finally brought him down.

I would hope they both would have high credit scores, she had a pretty good job and you know old Chris has never paid for anything himself not even his drinks and thats a bottomless well of alcohol.

My credit score is pretty high and I can tell you that I did not get a sub 5% mortgage the last time I refinance.

My understanding is that the Dodds' blended interest rates on their two homes in question is sub 5%. I suspect that the Dodds will not be able to get a similar rate even though interest rates have trended down lately. It would appear that refinancing the mortgages does not make economic sense. Why do it now?

In my view, this is a very public attempt at covering up what, at the very least, is unethical behavior and which could be construed by some as something even worse.

I think that the Dodds' explanations of 'FOA' and 'VIP' are puzzling. If we do believe their explanations, what does that say about Senator Dodd's sophisication regarding financial matters? Not a good position to be in as the head of the Senate Banking Committee.

My hope is that the public will not let this rascal off the hook on this matter. There are too many questions that still remain outstanding.

Why do we keep voting in the very same people that prove they cant run the State? We need change alright but good change, We need people that want to work for the people of the State not people that want to futher thier political careers using the State as a launch pad! Let alone the self interest people that are along for the ride. All the money they have wasted is a crime itself!

If Dodd did not get preferential treatment, then why do they
call it a VIP Loan? Why did it take so long for him to show the documents? Why can't I get VIP treatment? Is it only for a select few? Apparently so. It's nice to be the senator in charge of the banking committee - another perk in a long line of government abuse. And to think he is scolding wall street executives. Why can't these govt. officials LEAD BY EXAMPLE!

Sure he is, his father was censured. This Senate would never do that to him.

If this clears him as he says, why did it take so long to release this information? This guy is a scumbag crook but the nitwits in Connecticut will still re-elect him. If you think not, look at the poll in this article. Remember, he's a Democrap so he must be looking out for the little guy.

I don't think he got that great of a deal. I refinanced in 8/2003 and got 4.625 with no points through Chase. However, I still can't stand the man. Him and Barney Frank should be both run out of Washington.
