Full story: Hartford Courant

Documents associated with U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd 's much discussed "VIP" loans with defunct mortgage giant Countrywide Financial could become generally available, if a ranking Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives has his way.

Sweeeeeeeeeet...another nail in his coffin.

Dodd, Reid, Burris, Specter, and any others that get tossed out in 2010.

Sayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy BYE BYE to the 60 vote fillibuster proof majority.

Obama knows it too, because he's desperate to jam through his health care reform before the voters hand down a referendum of NO on him in 2010, ala 1994 with Clinton.

That's why the infomercial on ABC. He's desperate.

The polls show it, he knows it, the dems know it, too.

That's why Steny Hoyer is already handing out a sheet of talking points...but it won't help them when Obama-spend-o-rama is p*ssing through our money while we're struggling badly out here.

To watch the obscenety of the federal government p*ss through our hard earned money that THEY took, is going to absolutely decapitate the democrats, just like it did with the republicans.

And Obama knows it. But he doesn't care. He's desperate to get his own personal vision enacted before the nation tells him "ah, no thanks."

The nation isn't ready to admit they made a mistake marrying Obama, but they don't have to tolerate the jerk's FAMILY, the democrats in the house and Senate.

They can throw THOSE guys out in 2010.

Already an article called "For some dems in 2010, tomorrow may not come."

Yesssssssssssssss...the cyclic "winds of change" are already blowing.

The real question is what the committee will do with the information. I would hope the committed will use the information as a tool to ask for Corrupt Chris Dodd to resign all political positions immediately since he has been compromised!

Obama must release his long form birth certificate, not the Certificate of Live Birth. McCain released all his records about his birth and was approved at a Senate hearing. Obama is spending millions in legal fees to fight his document release. What is Obama hiding from the public?

You would seek special privilege if you could. It is human nature. The ultimate question one should ask is do you want to cut off your nose to spite your face. Is the relative misuse of public influence worth giving the office to a Republican? Democrats need to keep the the seat at all costs. Just remember what 8 years of Republican rule has done to this country. Remember what the Republican majority did to this country. Remember what the Compact with America and Nuite Gingriwch (whatever)did to this country by all the deregulation. No, I prefer to keep Dodd right where he is because there is no alternative.

It pays to be honorable, especially when you are a public servant.

Bingo the Cat: There is a simple alternative. The Democrats should bar Dodd from the party for his corrupt activities and seek a new candidate.

Think of what a PR move that would be.

However, I take issue with you on the idea that we need a Democrat, any Democrat: I thought the point of the whole exercise was to give voters a choice.

Even if Dodd does release the documents at this point, that's almost secondary to the continued cover-up, evasion, and self-promotion practiced by the senior senator from Connecticut.

Dodd should leave, one way or another.

One-way tickets to Ireland probably are reasonable these days....

When the Courant doesn't like reader responses, it does what any good totalitarian, Orwellian media speak group does, it changes the story a bit in order to erase all those wonderful comments about how inept Mahony and the Courant are. It's right out of "Animal Farm".
Sorry guys, the Courant is still a hack paper and a pathetic apologist for Dudd. Any highschooler could write this article, with their feet up on the desk and their hands behind their head. Nothing in this story that required the least bit of journalistic effort on either the Courant's or Mahony's part. Do you think we'll read a headline saying the Courant is aggressively pursuing this story? Naw, it's Chris Dudd (D) CT.

I don't know if you've looked at the political makeup of Dodd's district, but even if Dodd resigned, it wouldn't help Republicans. There's no way that conservatives can get their hands on that seat.
Furthermore, if you want to make the case that health care is an example of Democratic weakness, then why did CT's legislature just pass significant health care reform for the state.
And just to add another nail in your argument's coffin, why are you arguing about fiscal strain and defending our current system of health care. Private premium have risen 3x faster than workers' wages, 50% of bankruptcies are caused by health care costs, and the majority of the 46 mil people without health care are from families with full-time working members. Yes, people are struggling in this economy but until taxes cause half of our nation's bankruptcies, stop trying to hinder progress.
