You want to know why people die up north sooner? They KILL each other off. It's a war zone up north and everyone knows it. Do you think even if you build a clinic there that you can get your employees to work there? Is your clinic going to treat gunshot wounds? Because that's what's needed up NORF!

It would be nice to see this happen. Many sick people are forced to ride the bus while ill to seek care. Also, those with ongoing illnesses like diabetes, hypertension and lung disorders would benefit from having care in their neighborhood. We would see complications and death rates decrease as care becomes more available. Ongoing care for ongoing conditions brings better management and in the long run, lower hospitalization rates. SSDD- this would save you money in state and federal taxes paid for health care to underserved populations. Why can't people have a little compassion for their fellow man? SSDD is proof that not everyone lives by the golden rule.

Does the Tulsa Health Department actually give ongoing care for those with diabetes, hypertension and lung disorders like you've posted here? I did not know that they offered services like that. They may screen for diabetes and hypertension but do they have doctors that actually manage ones medication?

If they build the clinic- I would work at it! I know LOTS of people that would work at it. People are people. Take your fancy cars, your fancy clothes- set them aside- you are nothing but skin, bones and blood- the same as ANYONE else in this world- so what makes you think you are any better? There are some GREAT people in North Tulsa- there are some thugs and hoodlums in South Tulsa! I say put a clinic where it is needed- WATCH US GO THERE TO WORK.

I don't know if the HEALTH Department does- but I do know that Morton does and OU clinics do- and they are on sliding scale system. Problems are location. It is really hard for elderly or disabled people with little to no support to get a ride to go mid town or farther out. They are all wonderful and much needed clinics with good staff and needed services, but if we could service these types of problems in the community- it would be a win- win situation for all involved! I hope that this happens!

Would it not make more sense and be more affordable to run a bus two or three times a week or even runs a van service. That would be better than an extravaganza that the city can not afford and more cost effective. Put the money in police officers.

I don't know that the existing Health Dept Clinics do, but this article stated it would be all encompassing. It also mentioned people not having to travel for their care. This leads me to believe that they will take care of people with these types of problems. If not, maybe they could get one or both or the med schools to help.

"But, if you go here that would help a lot of people on this side of town, you know. Some of the girls that don't have to go further to have babies, don't have to go further on this side they can go right down here," said Vanessa Crisp.

Does ANYONE else see a problem with this statement? This is NOT something that needs to be encouraged! Hey....we got a one-stop-shop facility down the street that will deliver babies closer to home! PLEASE....these "girls" SHOULDN'T even be having babies!!!! Please don't make this facility anything more than a clinic for low-income people to get HEALTHIER...NOT make it closer for a Dr. to exam underage pregnant mothers!!!!

People like "Tulsa Girl" can say whatever they want.

The fact is, most of the shootings that occur, occur in north Tulsa. Most of the shootings that occur, involve black males as victims, and black males as suspects. I didn't create the problem, don't get mad at me.

I see what you are saying- and there are buses and transportation services such as the lift and sooner ride available. BUT the problem lies with the folks who cannot GET on the bus or get theirselves out of their home for the lift to pick them up. The lift will not assist anyone from their home into the car- so if you are in a wheelchair and have to maneuver a curb, you are SOL...
Also, some of these folks are elderly or mentally handicapped and it makes getting anywhere very hard for them. I think ANY service that helps our fellow man is great- but helping them in their own community is even better.- just my opinion!

I promise you, the meds schools would be pulled into help. What a valuable base to teach our young doctors!

I never said that the shooting rate was not high- let's face it, it is high in Tulsa, PERIOD! What I did say is that I don't care what the crime rate may be- this is a much needed clinic and service to our community and I for one, would go and work there. We need to take care of all of our citizens- we are all just humans, we all bleed red, we all have physical needs that will have to be taken care of at one time or another. Be good to someone and hope that it comes back to you when it is your turn!

No need for thanks, the pleasure (apparently) is all ours
