I'll tell you, this is an old story, it happened last year. The flight attendant was doing her safety demonstration when the toddler was saying "bye bye plane" over and over. NOt crying, not screaming, just repeating that phrase. She was a grumpy, cocky, flight attendant. I am a flight attendant with Continental, not ExpressJet which just bears the continental name as well as Delta and others. I would have been more inclined to eject the same kind of people you named in your post, arrogant, overweight, loud and obnoxious adults who act worse than this toddler did. What kind of society do we live in that puts up with sh-t from adults who should know better and throws a mother and toddler off of a plane for talking. Pitiful!!!I am so shocked by some of the posters on here with their saying that children should not fly. I hope, if they have a child that the child is mute, because if not, the child will end up on headline news with "Child murdered by parent for making a sound".
Shame on you!
I have sympathy for those that fly and do not want to hear a child cry, I don't either, but that is why I bring toys, food and drink for my child.
But, what are we to do with the obnoxious adult? What about the grossly overweight adult that should have bought 2 seats instead of one? The child and mom should not have been thrown off the plane. If I had been the mother, I would have tried to calm my child down out of respect. We were not there and do not know exactly what happened.

Is this the same kid that was on the Today Show or Good Morning America or one of those shows that was acting up and throwing things during the interview as the mother tried to convince the American audience that the kid was well behaved?? Just wondering.

See, it is you limpwristed, treehugging type of thinking that has us invaded and infested by illegal aliens. No one should listen to you. Women are for cold nights, and days when there is nothing to do, not to listen to them talk. Ban all babies and brats from the plane! :( |

Articulate young man? OK. I usually sit up front where the little runts seldom fly. However, on some flights I have to fly in the back *yuck*, and have experienced the things kicking the back of my seat and screaming. They are not "articulate" or "cute" in any way. I tell the parents to make the kid stop and if they don't I tell the flight attendant. It stops one way or the other. But, for the most part, they aren't up in first, so I don't worry about it on international flights. I had no idea "Hooters" had an airline. That's pretty scary. Lots of men with no teeth and no shirt sleeves I would imagine. Do you fly that airline? Is that how you know so much about it? No thanks, I'll pass. I'll stick with Virgin America, Air France, Air New Zealand or Qantas. |

Hmmm....Hooters or Virgin? Man, tough choice. |

I am a parent that will not tolerate my child to be rude and throw temper tantrums. I cannot stand seeing a parent that will not control or even TRY to control their child. Those are the children that will grow up to be drains on our economy. I will be damned if my daughter acts like a spoiled brat. She knows better and is learning how to behave and she is 2.
I KNOW that parenting (or lack of) has a lot to do with how America is these days...even for those that are adults. |

It seems most of the "parents" responding on this board can't understand why someone wouldn't love to have a rude, out of control child/animal sitting next to or in back of them. They spend no time with their kids and then don't understand why they are so out of control. You sound like you're doing it right. I would love to have you and your daughter as traveling companions. Society needs alot more parents like you. |

On my last cross-country flight I had a kid sitting behind me screaming and crying for most of the flight. I tolerated it because I was wearing earplugs they cut the noise to some degree. While the mother was holding the kid in her lap he started kicking the back of my seat. I turned around, looked the mother in the eye and said "Stop kicking my seat you stupid cuhhunt". Her husband apologized to me. The kid, the mother, and the father were as quiet and still as mice for the rest of the flight.

No, I do not work for Hooters I have a sister in SC and she told me about it. I have also seen the plane at the airport. I do think that this has been taken out of context. As far as some of the other post there is a old show/movie saying never work with children and animals. You never know how they will behave. Hence the child acting like a child on the morning program he was on. |

OK JIm you seem to be missing the point of what us parents are saying. Lets see if I can clear it up for you. No we do not want our children to be rude to anyone. When it comes to discpline we have to chose do we get onto our child or not. You see alot of the same people that complaine about unruly children are the same ones that will call the police if a parent does the right thing and displines their child. Now if I ever get on a plane with my grandchild I may just loudly tell him "You must be silent b/c some A-Hole might get upset and God forbid you move" from what I have seen in alot of these post is that you and the "adults" are just as rude as you think a child is. |

If that had been me you would not have had to deal with my husband. You and I both would have been thrown off the plane b/c I would have slaped your face. And it would be a cold day in h-e-l-l before you got an apology from me or my husband. |
|
I never would have allowed my child to act like that on the plane. Some people have no idea how to raise their kids.
This was the same kid who was yelling and throwing things while his clueless mother was being interviewed on TV. No sympathy. |

And all 4 of your children can sit for hours and not make a peep or wiggle around. I bet you have them right there in the pew with you on Sunday while the service is 2-3 hours long. Sorry but I do not think so. My kids were well behaved and I knew that there was a time limit to how long they could sit still even with toys food and drink available. Any good parent knows the limit that their child will behave and sometimes the kid just breaks down. Have you ever been on a TV set or movie set? I have and it is all about hurry up and waite. I am sure by the time that the story was aired the child had been waiting at least 3 hours. So until you know the child and know how long it is until he will melt down you have no clue what you are talking about. |

From what the news stated the child was saying/doing he really didn't do anything serious enough to have him and his mother kicked off the plane. The stewardess had the problem. Maybe she should have got off the plane instead of going overboard and getting her panties all wadded up. And then saying the mother threatened her. Too many witness disagreed with her.

YOU BE STUPID |
Should she have spanked her child right there on the air for every self-righteous, nebnose to butt in and call child services? Kids will act up, especially when they know that the parents hands are "tied". Kids are smart. They know when they can get away with something. And I know what you are going to say, for some kids the consequences just don't matter. I was one of those children. I am a very strong willed person and when I was a child I hated to be told what to do and I hated to be punished. My parents are old school. Spanking was a part of my daily life, it didn't work for me. If I wanted to do something, I did it. The consequences didn't matter. And they were tough. My parents didn't hold back, it just fueled me more. The more they spanked and punished the more I wanted to prove that I can and would do whatever I wanted. There are a lot of kids out there just like me. There is not a cookie cutter way to raise kids. All are different and need different techniques. What worked for you may not work for me. |

What bothers me about this post is how everyone is so quick to judge someone else. It is irrelevent how the child acted on TV. The story was about how the child acted on the plane. He was not acting up. He was talking and saying, not screaming, "bye bye plane". This would get old, yes, but it does not warrant being removed from an airplane. No matter what all you grumpy, intolerant people have to say. He was a customer on that flight as much as anyone else. I have had to listen to adults talk loudly on their cell phones as if they are gods gift to the airline industry. Talking down to me and everyone else on the plane. If they don't get thrown off for swearing, clipping toenail, picking their nose and eating their boogers, farting, taking off their shoes so that everyone has to smell their smelly feet, etc... than this poor innocent little boy should not have been either. Get a clue people. He is a product of this society. He is no different than you or anyone else. I have been a flight attendant for 11 years. There is no such thing as class anymore and all of you bitching about this child and any other child just proves it. NO CLASS!!! and to the man who claims that he only flies in first, Just rememeber...JUST BECAUSE YOU SIT IN FIRST CLASS DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE ANY!!!!!
