I got my first generic prescription of Pravachol today, but it still cost me $125.95. Still way too high. |

I tried to get the generic prescription of Pravachol yesterday and was told by my pharmacist that it was withdrawn from the market. I can't believe this is true after just being approved!

My drug plan has told me Pravachol is no longer on the Preferred Drug List and a generic is available. What is the name of the generic drug for Pravachol?

My drug plan just raised my co-pay for 90 days of Pravachol (one 40 mg tab per day) from $5 to $20, with the new generic available for $10. I called them and they said the rise was due to new generic being available. Pravachol did not go up 400%, and why should generic be twice the co-pay of the brand name?(naive question, forgive me)
Does anyone know the definitive story on the generic's approval/availability in the market as of 6/28/06? |

A natural way to lower cholesterol is taking Omega3 pills (fish oil).

I had been on Pravachol without any side effects but 4 months ago I got switched to the generic, Pravastatin, and I started having severe muscle pain to the ppoint I could not lift stuff with my right arm.
My doctor had me go off of it and also told me he was having the same problem I described I was having. Has anyone else had any severe side effects from the pravastatin? |

I too was taking Pravachol without side effects having switched to it because of muscle pain and weakness with Lipitor. I started having muscle pain and weakness after about 6 months and when I looked back at the prescription information I noticed that the pharmacy had switched me to generic pravastatin around the time my symptoms started. I have stopped the pravastatin and the muscle symptoms have resolved. My doctor doesn't think the generic would cause the difference. I'm not convinced that he's right. I'm trying diet and natural supplements for now.

Has anyone experienced hip and knee pain while taking Pravachol? I took it for 3 or 4 years without a problem. The pain went away after I stopped taking it. I then tried Liptior and had the same pain so I naturally stopped taking it and again the pain went away. My doctor said he had never heard of hip/knee pain with these medications. Any suggestions as to what is safe??

Yes, I have hip pain on generic pravachol and now lower leg pain, too. I was switched from Crestor and this stuff is worse. I think all statins are really awful. I am going to go the natural way. |

Do you think my elder people should take Bioslife complete. Their ages are 56 and 51.

Hi Roberto, everyone, any age can take Bios Life Complete.
I am 20 years old, and take it for prevention. My mom is 54, she takes it. Also my grandpa takes it instead of Lipitor and he is in his 80's. If you would like some information on Bios Life, would like to talk or have any other questions feel free to email me: mkm@cogeco.ca To good health!

After having hip and knee pain with Pravachol, I was switched to Lipitor and experienced the same problem. My doctor has now put me on COQ10 50mg to take along with the Lipitor each day. After about a month, I have had no pain. Perhaps this is an answer.

I had the worst knee pain I've ever experienced due to pravastatin. My knees have never been the same since. I've been off it now for over a year.

Has anyone received safety alerts about their cholesterol medication before? I just started getting emails from this website www.iguard.org - it emails you the safety rating of your medicines. Pretty cool!

I have recently been told that I need to start taking provastatin - and I am really scared of taking this drug. So, I am looking at other alternatives. Please let me know if you are taking Bios Health and is working for you. Thank you. Dottie justdottie@sbcglobal.net (home email) dottie.macken@doj.ca.gov (work email) |
