Blockbuster Offers to Buy Circuit City

Blockbuster Inc. said Monday it has offered to pay more than $1 billion for struggling Circuit City Stores Inc.

Blockbuster is a dinosaur. Why go to a strip mall to get a movie when I can just download it to my pc??

Question is: where will Blockbuster get the 1.3 billion to make the purchase? As of the last quarter they had only 185 million in cash. And they are not totally out of the woods with their own situation.
Combining these two companies would serve to give the new merged company at least twice the headaches that they both are currently are dealing with.
We'll have to wait and see what happens when the Board of Directors meet in June. Wattles will be there with his five nominees to sit on the board.

Circuit City is going down the tubes...They are on the same road as Comp USA (Now owned by Tiger Direct after going belly up). Why on earth would anybody want to buy CC is beyond me. I visited a CC a few weeks ago for the first time in probably 3-4 years and it was a total turn off....I haven't been to a Blockbuster in 8 years.....Both will be by the wayside shortly......
