People at american axle needs to accept the wage and benefit cut. They will have to learn to live off of $14.00 an hour and learn to know what you can and can't afford. I agree that the CEO and management wages and benefit needs to be cut down to $20.00 and $30.00 an hour first and then cut lower paid employees, but we all know that they aren't going to cut their pay. You might as well take the wage and benefit cut because the company is going to get what they want and the employees are not. You are saying that you can't live off of the $14.00 an hour and they close the company you won't have a job then and the company will move out of US and open another company were people will work for less than $14.00 an hour. Are they will fire all employees and hire new employees to work, because there is people out there who will be glad to have a job working for $10.00-$14.00 an hour. And then they will kick the union out of this company and it will become a non-union company. I have heard all the company has to do is
close down the company for 30 days and then they can reopen and become a non-union company. I work at Delphi company and we had to take a $15.00 an hour, my family has learned to live off of this, and the union we have is watching out for themselves not for the employees and we pay union due for nothing. We are suppose to get paid up to $20,000 for suggestions to help save the company money if they use your suggestion you got paid for it. I know several people who has suggestion that has got used and still being used that was suppose to get the $20,000 and got $3500 instead they have got the paper work showing how much the saving is and how much it has/is saving the company. The union was called in and they didn't do anything about it. Also our contract was signed August, 2007 and they have been changing things in the contract. They tell us we all have subpay, etc. and in January 2008 they said things have changed that we don't have subpay, etc. We ask to see our
contract nobody don't have a copy of it so we don't know what we have/had in the contract.

When I was a kid in the 70's my parents were always talking about how the unions would break Americas back. The companies have been moving out of the country for years, and it is now REALLY getting bad. I'm sure the American Axle workers are a great hard working bunch of guys with nice families they have to support. That being said, shut up and go back to work. Times are tough all over the country, especially in WNY!! How long do you think people (who wish they had good paying jobs) will feel sorry for you walking a picket line.
These people better get back to their jobs. Having a union job for years, they will sure be surpised when they have to actually WORK HARD (for less pay) and they can't work at a snails pace.
Life is tough for most of us, do you think people like working at crappy jobs, with no money.

THE LARGEST UAW ONLINE BLOG & NEWS ARCHIVE
http://www.futureoftheunion.com

What Is Future Of The Union?

Future Of The Union currently acts as the largest online news archive and resource center for the automotive industry. It serves as the main document and network center for thousands of auto workers around the world. We work in complete conjunction with The Soldiers Of Solidarity UAW Rank-N-File Movement.

History Of Future Of The Union

Future of the Union was originally started in August 2004 soon after the United Auto Workers leaders bargained for two-tier wages for the rank-n-file members. Its sole purpose is not just to educate and inform rank-n-file auto workers about their union’s activities, but a means to build real solidarity at the bottom. There are thousands of workers across the country represented by the UAW that would not normally have access to the resources and communication that Future of the Union provides.

We are not simply just a resource and news center though. We are a movement for serious and immediate change in our union. We often expose and take a hard line stance on the decisions that our leadership make. For this stance we have made a few enemies but, this does not divert our goals. We are determined to continue asking the questions that nobody asks. We are committed to exposing any and all corruption with our leadership when it is found. Our leadership council at UAW New Directions and Soldiers Of Solidarity consists of many ex-uaw presidents, directors, and other officials who analyze the industry and the direction we are heading.

The original base and foundation however of the Future of the Union movement was directed by a rank-n-file workers’ council out of Kokomo, Indiana. We work in unwavering conjunction and unity with both the Solidarity Now movement and the rebirth of the United Auto Workers New Directions Movement started by Victor Reuther brother of Walter Reuther.

This stance and determination has resulted in many UAW officials to resort to calling us anti-union. Those who call us radicals fail to understand the rapid decline of union membership in the United States is a direct effect of business unionism and corporate unions. They call us communists for denouncing the Democratic Party and the corrupt two party system in America. In fact we are not communists, but a movement calling for a real working-class party to be built. A labor party that represents the values and beliefs of working families in America. A true party of labor who understands the reality of the class struggle we face.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Virgo

You're feeling restless and need to introduce as much variety into your day as possible. However, you'll want this to be on your own terms, and you certainly won't like it if plans are changed without your consent or you feel you've lost control of the situation. Try to take everything in your stride, otherwise you'll end up feeling exhausted and frazzled.
