strikers may want to rethink their attitudes right about now.

American Axle & Manufacturing Reaches Contract Agreements with Unions in Mexico and the United Kingdom
PRNewswire-FirstCall
DETROIT
(:AXL)

DETROIT, April 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/-- American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM), which is traded as AXL on the NYSE, announced today that it has reached agreements with the unions representing its associates in England, Mexico and Scotland.

"All of AAM's hourly associates at AAM de Mexico and our wholly-owned subsidiary Albion Automotive in the United Kingdom have union representation," said AAM Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO Richard E. Dauch. "The recently signed agreements in Mexico and the United Kingdom achieved a market competitive labor cost structure in those regions where the facilities are located. This was all done quietly, professionally, responsibly and effectively with no production disruption."

AAM is a world leader in the manufacture, engineering, design and validation of driveline and drivetrain systems and related components and modules, chassis systems and metal-formed products for trucks, sport utility vehicles, passenger cars and crossover utility vehicles. In addition to locations in the United States (Michigan, New York, Ohio and Indiana), AAM also has offices or facilities in Brazil, China, Germany, India, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Poland, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom.

Looks like American Axle has 4 locations in the US and 9 locations other than the US.(according to the newswire)
hummmm wouldn't be that much trouble to move production of the 4 in the US into the remaining 9 world wide. After all they have had almost 8 weeks now to move everything since they aren't producing anything anyhow. I am sure GM would be pleased to know their axles will be coming from more than just Mexico shortly.
If the strikers stay out for another week or 2 the buildings may be cleaned out before they even see the inside of the buildings again.
Since right now the strikers are striking "without" a union contract. It expired remember.
So American Axle can do what it wants because there is no contract to follow right now. It expired back in February.

I have been laid off of work because of the strike and I do think that all the CEO and to take a wage and benefit cuts first before all the lower paid employees. The union is just looking out for themselves. We work at Delphi and a contract was signed in August, 2007 and now one has seen this contract and you ask the union about it and they act like they don't have a copy and now have been changing thing in the contract. Example Like back in November and December 2007 when you where we took down week everyone was to get subpay the union brought the papers to us and told us to fill them out for subpay and we got out subpay. When we took down week in January 2008 they came back saying that if you took the $15.00 which we were the same ones that took down week in November and December 2007 that we couldn't get subpay, etc. I think this is wrong we haven't seen a contract and they are changing things so we don't know what is in or was in our contract. Also about suggestion where employees turned in suggestion to help the company save money and if they used your suggestion the most that you get was $20,000. I know of several employees that was told that they would get $20,000 but the company didn't pay them but like $3500 and others was done the same way. The union was called in and they haven't done anything about it and I was told by old employees that this wouldn't have happen to them and that the union wouldn't let it happen neither. So the union we have now is not looking out for the employees but their own selves and we pay union dues for nothing. And also my family has learned to live off of $15.00 an hour, you just have to learn what you can and can't afford.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Virgo

You're feeling restless and need to introduce as much variety into your day as possible. However, you'll want this to be on your own terms, and you certainly won't like it if plans are changed without your consent or you feel you've lost control of the situation. Try to take everything in your stride, otherwise you'll end up feeling exhausted and frazzled.
