If the union workers don't want to do the work. Fire them. There are plenty of capable people that would be willing to take their place.

You're an idiot!! Nobody wants to be on strike, most people want to work for a fair wage.

That's not realistic. At least one-third of the workders are skilled laborers. If they don't want to deal with the union they would have to replace 100% of the workforce. Who would train these workers? It would take years to get the operation with all new workers at the level is is now. That is why there is strength in numbers.
People who complain about the union are just jealous of what union workers have: protection, fairness, and a contract. They fought to get what they have and they should fight to keep it.
This is about corporate greed. The workers shouldn't agree to a 60% cut when American Axle is profitable.

“Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never exist if labor did not exist first. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.”

I totally support all the American Axel strikers! Don't cower down to a $$ signing bonus like what happened with General Motors. And surely don't vote on a contract that you aren't allowed to know the contents....like what happened with General Motors.(we got stuck with a lousy, rotten contract, because too many...lower seniority employees only seen the $$ signing bonus and voted for the contract!-those asses!) I still can't believe that Gettlefinger would have even considered what's in our contract! Just goes to show that the UAW is no longer what it use to be! May all the men & women who fought so hard, many years ago for everything we've been blessed to have....may they all rest in peace!

F-off GMWORKER. Union workers are the reason for GM Ford & Chrysler's decline. Union leaches are sucking the blood from the company so it can support you and your spouse until you die. There is a sense of entitlement for you scumbags. You can't live on anything less that $30 an hour, you have to have your schooling paid for by your employer. If this doesn't happen, STRIKE! Even if it has a negative effect on workers in your company, other companies or industries.

The american axle workers on strike are doing the right thing.
Delphi convinced the uaw to take cuts, then the executives decided to give themselves 84 million in bonues.
Say no to corporate greed.

We have learned from the best. You have just described our government. When they change I will consider taking less. Until then my taxes are so high I need the $30.00/hr. to live. If my taxes have to support their lifestyle then I want the same. You should too.

The two WNY plants will be sacrificed to save the jobs in Detroit. It's a dog-eat-dog world.

The good news is that if these workers are as skilled and valuable as they claim they are, then they will have no problem finding good paying jobs on the open market.

Wyoming> You just showed how little you actually know. I bet you would NEVER dare to make the comments like you did face-to-face with a GM, Ford, Chrysler or American Axel employee. People like you are cowards....hiding behind a computer!
Correction...we at GM don't make $30. an hr. And, I can & will live on less than we make since the strike also affected where I work and many of us are laid-off (me included, by choice)and we STILL ALL SUPPORT THE AMERICAN AXEL WORKERS! I have a feeling that you either-1) don't even work for a living, or 2) because of your stupidity and low IQ, you can't get a job that pays well w/ benefits, or 3)you possibly are too lazy to work!

Union Yes,

They asked for 84 million in bonuses.
The bankruptcy judge refused the request, management returned with a new figure of 18 Million, Judge agreed,
stupid, ignorant, or paid off Judge, 18 million in bonuses for a bankrupt business. Go Figure.
With all the bending over backwards that the UAW did with wages for new employees, tier system.
Delphi in a interview with "Business Week" magazine announced that as a soon as bankruptcy is discharged, they moving operations out of country. I think this is why they are having a difficult time in securing a loan.
Obviously even minimum wage is to much for them to pay, how sad!

Union workers know the importance of standing together. The anti-union crowd are the people that want to divide this nation.

The UAW divided itself when it allowed the two-tier wage system. This strike should have happened 3-4 years ago. Too late, the Delphi bankruptcy filing and subsequent caving of the UAW to realign the wages to $14.50/hr set a precedence which every other major Tier 1 is now entitled to. The tide has swung the other way, and it is now the company who controls the negotiations and results.

I am not a union employee but my husband & I work for a company that has been affected by this strike and as such we are laid off until this is over. There is a greater ripple effect from this that involves thousands more then anyone is considering. I understand the need to negotiate for fairness as much as I understand the frustration of executives reaping rewards - but when all is said and done, there are many suffering who will never benefit from any negotiations settled on. My fear is no one will ever be happy with what's being presented from either side and the hard worker busting their ass to make a living for their family is left holding no poker chips in the end and fought a long, hard road for nothing.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Gemini

You're in a warm-hearted and generous mood today, especially when dealing with loved ones and members of the family. You want to give them as much of your time as possible, and also to do anything else that will keep them happy. The only snag will come if you're trying to spread yourself too thin and you end up making promises that will be difficult, if not impossible, to keep. You may forget all about them but other people won't.
