American Axle Blames Strike For 1st-Quarter Loss

American Axle could have avoided the first quater loss by ENDING the strike.

But no,they had to play hard ball and not meet the unions reasonable requests and now look at the position they are in.

It serves them right.

I think u need to be greatful you still have a job, in this area.. bite the bullet like every other red blooded american making ends meet... You guys needs to go back to work and be thankful you have a job, it not only you that your hurting there are so many other people effected by this strike, its not just YOU!!!!!!!!!! other families needs to worry about their jobs, and health insurance, and as long as you strike they are effected tooooo.

when will u people get it? They always post it as a LOSS but it really is that thay didnt make as much profit as they predicted or wanted so they always say they lost money..Stay srong guys

I was out there today it was wonderful being rained on and having a Tonawanda cop pull up and threaten us with arrest for doing what we can to save our jobs. Why don't you just stick to doing your job in a fair manner like any other union represented public servant would ,the mail men don't harass us and threaten us nor do the garbage men. Rot in hell AAM hire your foreign slaves and set us free.

Did you loose your job beacause of this ? I did and I still back the workers 110% I dont want my pay cut in half and if they give in we all loose in the long run.

A little information for ya fella A striker cannot get unemployment its a act of refusing to work better get some smarts

as a teamster member,we make a decent wage,we can own a nice house in a decent area and live the american dream.i work hard and so does my wife for what we got.its deplorable the way these ceo 's are giving our jobs away to other countries.why should a person take a pay cut ,when the company makes a profit.their saying the workers make $74 a hr.their not saying that their including pensions and medical for workers who have retired.alot of the bashing about unions is from people that are jealous.

That's one way to look at it. The other way is that the union is once again costing them money. And since they have a loss, they can't afford to offer the union what they want. So they are perfectly justified in offering the concessions that AA wants or moving operations overseas. The UAW can take the concessions or lose these jobs forever. It serves the union right for raping the company for all these years

Can't AA just shut the plant down and move it now?

They are going to do it anyway.

Another idgit statement. From a news blog: "For the first three months of the year, the company reported a net loss of $27 million, or 52 cents per share. For the same period last year, the company reported a profit of $15.7 million or 30 cents per share."

A net loss means YOU LOST MONEY, YOU DID NOT MAKE A PROFIT. It does not mean you were short on profit projections. That's why we don't believe your UNION PROPAGANDA!

exactly!how come everyone that has a good job in WNY complains constantly!?there are people that would love to work for "half"of the pay but they hire people they know and the son-in-law,the daughters boyfriend,etc,etc.i KNOW a guy that works there and you know what he's doing?collecting diability because"he cant work cus he got hurt"on the job....and he sits around and drinks and smokes and parties...he has been cleared to go back to work but instead,went to a different doctor who states he's "still in pain"so they give him 10,000 hydrocodone a month and he gets a check every week.screw all you jerks @AA.get ur fat money grubbing butts back to work!!!!

To SEAN and THE REAL REAL SPOOF. You two need to loose your jobs due to outsourcing or get your pay cut in half and lets see if you would favor the corp. scumbags. The reason you people say such rediculious crap is that you have no IDEA what a union stands for. They are there to stick up for your rights as a worker. You two are just jealous you don't have what they have. See in your eyes Corporate America has done nothing wrong and they want you to feel sorry for them, even though they all are bringing in over a 7 to 8 figure salary. Hey, you need to read all the posts. I don't have to worry about getting my pay cut and losing my health care, I have skills and experience that are very valuable. And even if that did happen, with my resume' I could find another job with great pay and benefits very quickly. We see what's going on, the low skill and no skill workers think they are entitled to a higher middle class living. The only problem is they don't want to have to work for it.

The bottom line is, a mexican or a china man cannot do my job, and if they can do your job, that tells you exactly what your job is worth. Take the $14 an hour, that's even better than what you deserve for your skills. And then go find someone else's shoulder to cry on because you never took the time or put in the effort to better yourself!

Exactly what is your job real real? You seem to be on these blogs 24/7...what job can`t Mexican or Chinaman do that you do???

I feel sorry for the people affected by this strike, especially the ones on strike because they are not going to have a job left, this company will move everything to mexico to save money... dont kid yourself... i feel for ya on strike but good luck

I don't need to make up anything, and you have no right to know what it is I do for a living. But let me repeat, I don't lose any sleep over losing my job, and I know for sure I will never be replaced by a low skill union worker, or a Mexican for that matter.

Figure it out, there's what, maybe 150 MILLION working people, and the AA jobs possibly going to a foreign country number like 3600. That means there's a lot of working people who don't have to be worried about being outsourced. I'll even give you one example, how about a nurse. Are we really going to ship people overseas to get blood taken, and are all hospitalized people going to be shipped overseas, because then a nurse would have to worry about being outsourced. As it turns out, those in the nursing field don't have to worry about being outsourced, do they? Now I am not a nurse, but surely your little brain should understand this point! Then again, you are a union worker!(LOL)
