The Associated Press reports that the E.U. is opening an investigation into whether three airlines, including Delta , violated E.U. antitrust rules. The bloc is probing whether the airlines, who are all members of a joint venture called the SkyTeam alliance, illegally collaborated on flights between Europe and the U.S., the news service explained.
Alliances are nothing more than ways of carteling the free market, and eliminating competition.
We thought OPEC was bad... these Alliances are just as shifty but are all given tacit government approval in exchange for lucrative insider jobs and perks among the bunch and airline board of director management.
It is a cozy little club and arrangement Airline Cartels and Government have. DON'T expect it to change unless OPEC was to fall to change, which I do not see that happening any time soon.
