My gas bill over the past 2 years has went down 50% and my electric bill has went up 20%. AEP passes along all costs and is guaranteed a profit. No real reason to cut costs. Thanks Grove City for speaking up!

The usual feeble throwback we get with these never-ending increase requests is, 'your electric cost is much cheaper than most of the country.' Yes, and so is our overall cost of living and that includes salaries. That's like one CEO bragging he or she got less bonus and perks to than another CEO. Trouble is, they're all continuing to flimflam society.

Judged: 1 No math skills required, you will get screwed repeatedly. You will see a proposal for a tiered rate structure and smart metering will be the ultimate goal for dynamic rate pricing. Imagine paying a sliding scale rate for each KWh of electricity used, depending on the time of day AND the tier of electricity usage during the month. Pay it forward, get a large solar PV system and a grid tied agreement with AEP. Let them pay you for electricity and see if they can figure out their own rate structure. www.dsireusa.org click on your State of the union and see what programs are available to help you install your own system. The utilities commission is ill prepared to even try and protect the consumer as the administrational watchdog over the utilities to keep them honest. The variables are the tiered rate structure, the actual time of day and the actual KWh usage during that time of day. Enough variables there to cook the books without getting caught red handed as they say. The spin doctors will rule and the consumer will pay dearly. |
