Hi,

To make a decision to work for Accenture it would be great to have more insight in the company. Pls tell me the especially good things (but also negative) at Accenture.

Great would be if you use for it the standardized info-sharing at www.kelzen.com or www.vault.com .

Thanks,
Terry

You will be working, essentially, 24 hours a day, for as long as you can take it. You'll have no life outside Accenture, and you'll be doing this so that the partners can afford to buy their second or third home in whatever country they like best.
Accenture is about "churn and burn". Hire employees at what seems like a good salary, but then make them work 24 hours a day (which actually means you're getting a very low hourly wage) until they quit. Then hire some more.

There is nothing great working for Accensucks, oh I meant Accenture...

In all the contracts I've been on, working conditions were horrible. ATS never provided us with any equipment such as good laptops like Consulting and Services gets. We were always given the slowest, low-performance machine to work with in a tiny bullpin of other contractors. More like a slave pit, no desk space for your own personals. I even had one supervisor(he was from Consulting group) who asked me to work overtime(80+ hours/week) and charge the client for it even there is not enough work to justify it. Every contract I've been on,never had any network access, because the Accenture supervisors(Services and Consulting most of the time) were too incompetent to get me access and sufficient equipment and software I need to do my job. On another contract, they brought me in to do some testing. Then they found out I good at testing, so they forced me to write code in .NET. Services and Consulting division was offering their own employees free .NET training classes, but people in my division got jeeped. Oh why not? No, budget. So, we didn't get to go but expected to do all the other deadbeats' work who got to go and even funnier I was even tasked to train them. Most of the new technologies I had to use to do my job I had to learn it on my own.

Basically, they will hire just about anyone on the street who is willing to work for cheap, low wages, just like hiring a whole bunch of illegal Mexicans picking melons. That is why I noticed there is a change where more and more women are getting into the technical industry. It is bad enough that they are so incompetent in doing their jobs, and unqualified as well. They don't want to learn anything to do their jobs and basically just pass off all their work for others to do. But because they are the only ones who are willing to take the low paying jobs, they get promoted by suck n' fuck their way up. When they become managers, I worked for a couple by the way. They get so demanding and bitchy when they get squeezed by their own bosses. Basically, they ill-treat their own subordinates due to their own incompetence (the fact they can't write even a single line of code to save themselves). Bottomline is, the incompetence is soaring so high in the tech industry till the point that every good employees they have ends up quitting or just flat out getting out of the industry all together.

I have been working with accenture for 2 months.work condition is terrible, 9 people squeezed in a small CONTAINER. all the contractors are cheap labours, work OT everyday and even come back to work during weekend for free. The admin staff is very rude to contractors, easily get angry to us for no reason.

there's one activity in sentosa on this friday which is only open for perm staff because of BUDGET. It means that all the perm staff will enjoy their time in sentosa while our contractors are still have to work in the terrible container.

I have one piece of advice for any new hire at Accenture:

Take your Accenture laptop, give it to the front desk receptionist, then walk out the door and don't come back.

I wasted 5 years of my life listening to partners (or senior executives as they are now called) talk about the changes they were making to improve the work environment. Yeah right... they'll say anything to make their subordinates and clients happy.

Accenture is a HUGE hypocrite when it comes to what they call 'work/life balance'. They promote work/life balance and say that all employees have the right for a life outside of work. Sure. Just wait and see what happens when you say 'no' to working a weekend or leave the office at 5 PM. You will for sure get a crappy review and rating, hence no raise or promotion for you!

I found a much better job and left Accenture. The new job pays me 30% more and is much less stressful. The benefits are also better. There are MUCH better companies out there. Accenture sucks ass.

I was recently sent an offer letter at Accenture after leaving my existing job. I was supposed to start on the 6th of Nov and I have an E Mail from Accenture that they are rescinding my offer. This really sucks! I am filing a law suit against Accenture based on a similar case in 2004, where the jury awarded 1 mil dollars as compensation ( a small firm). I am sure that Accenture can pay out big bucks as it is big. It's a case of promissary estopell! Any advice!

I have worked in ACN for almost 2 years. I wanna share my experience in generic manner to you. Let me start with project structure , the client was huge and demands were high but ACN made a team of lots of freshers and then delieverd the code 7 months late.. in IT industry if the delivery is late its SIN..and that too since the code was written by most fo the freshers it has 3500 defects..can you imagine that number..this is ACN and then the blame comes on inexperience freshers ..ACN not only sucks but its managers are more suckers..a chunk of unprofessional village people are there who show their unprofessionalism not only in talks but also in their work.. no matter few people were really good but then they were all covered with good number of inexpereinced and unprofessional people.. its not the fault of freshers ...its the fault of company who in order to save money implements these kinds of cheap things.. they are just money oriented thats it..even low order indian IT companies can do project better than ACN..they are surviving cause they are matured but the day is not far when they will sink deep..salaries sucks.. upper management sucks.. policies sucks.. and yah ITS THE MOST UNSAFE ENVIORNMENT TO WORK IN.. these people layoff for any reason.. please for god sake dont go on this name ..please be far of ACN..
WE ARE THE PUBLIC .. A COMMON MAN AND I THINK WE CAN ONLY SHOW THIS HIGHLY STABLE ORG.!! LETS MAKE A POINT FOR NOT JOINING THIS FIRM.. THEY ARE GROWING SINCE NO MATTER HOW MUCH WORST ONE WRITES THEN TOO PEOPLE DO JOIN... LETS ATLEAST DO SOMETHING WHICH SHOULD BE DETTERING FOR ACN// lets vote that its a nusiance company.. I give one VOTE.... PLEASE DO KEEP THIS FORUM CHAIN GOING...

Hello,

It is interesting how all of you have made their opinion on Accenture. It is interesting for me because i was thinking of applying there as a sap jump start consultant. The say that they have a very good trainee program. Is it really that bad? Also in Vienna where i want to apply? i am really indecisive about this matter and don't know what to do.

Please help

I don't know much about Accenture, but I do know that almost every person who put a post on this site, except for the guy from Austria, do NOT have a good grasp on the English language or proper grammar usage. I'm not great at it, but I can write a comprehendible paragraph...

I am in the same position as BLL, terminated a position for them and moved interstate only for it to be repudiated before commencement. Under Australian laws I'm a contractor. Read your contract CAREFULLY! Especially the termination section.

An awful lot of negative comments here - maybe the experience in the US is different to the UK as the majority of the negative comments seem to be coming from there, but I've been with Accenture UK for 3 years, worked pretty hard and got rewarded - first promotion from Analyst to Consultant after 16 months, up for Manager promotion this September. Every pay increase has been well in excess of inflation (biggest I had was a 22% increase), and the rewards are certainly competitive. Sure, you work long hours some weeks - but you knew that when you signed your contract.

I reckon the most vociferous complainers are those who couldn't hack it and decided to blame their poor performance on a corrupt system / HR being "in the pockets of management" / some other nonsense.

It's a pity you had such a horrible time at Accenture, maybe you'll find a nice cushy job at some other (less successful) firm. But when you realise that if you want to play with the big boys and girls at the successful consultancy firms you have to work hard, then you're welcome to come sit at the top table. Until then, whinge away...

Anyone who gets paid well works LONG hours...Doctors, Lawyers, and Investment Bankers. People who are looking for a 9-5 life style with lunch, coffee, and cigarette breaks should not expect to be paid the same as a person who lives their life of call or out of town.

Please remember, all of the top consulting firms works their people hard – if you really think Accenture if different from the other firms, you are kidding yourself. Every company has top executives who get paid well, every company has management that over promises to their customers, every company has some incompetent people. The world is not perfect. Grow up.

It’s your responsibility to find people you trust and respect. It’s called networking. Once you find those people, you stay with them and work with them.

I am getting ready start as a contract manager in their contract management division.

The pay is very solid and I was told that the travel is minimal (only 20%).

They basically state that you gotta work hard with the partners (but still be tought).

Anybody know anything about the contract manager team?

From almost 10 years of experience in consulting industry:
Don't go to work for any consulting firm, especially Accenture, unless you take great pleasure in playing politics and taking credit for work that your client's despised staff has done for you, while you instruct your team to create a mirage of smoke and mirrors to position yourself as the bread-winner.
Among the many terrible things about working at Accenture, probably the worst was the utter incompetence of the middle-management level (aka "Managers") who generally had little to no knowledge in IT, while having expertise playing politics and creating unnecessary work, which usually amounted to pushing monstrous piles of paper (i.e. bogus project plans, nebulous and meaningless power point presentations, "process documents", etc. etc.) or creating crappy "business processs/software solutions" that were usually far worse than the existing "legacy" systems they promised to replace/improve.
I have never seen so much utter waste working anywhere as I did in the consulting industry, and amazingly enough, people pay huge bucks for it -- probably because business schools teach MBA students to hate and ruin the companies they are hired to run, and so to help them accomplish this, these executives hire companies like Accenture to come in and completely screw everything up to the point where it is beyond repair. In the end, the partners and the CEOs make out big, while everyone else gets screwed.
