the albertsons stores have already been bought, my daughter brought home an email she was given from the store (tracy, ca) and it said all the stores that were bought. hers was one of them.

albertson's and vones deserve to go out of bussiness after the stike! staters should be ashame of there prices, since the stike they took advantage of people and raised there price's...I SAY GO TO WALL MART AND SHOP.. |

We as Albertson's employees have heard that Save mart is a good company to work for. Albertson's has been going down hill for a while now. Making it a very stressful place to work, never enough help to get the job done, but expected to work as if there were enough. Some of the store directors have god like images of themselves, and have caused department managers and others to step down or lose their jobs. I hope those rats are found out and with any luck they won't be around long. We are concerned about our seniority, vacation time and sick leave. Some of us have 5 weeks vacation, many days of sick leave and 15 yrs. of seniority. Do you know what will happen to all the above when Save mart takes over completely? Will the employees start over with their seniority, will they get paid out from Albertson's for sick leave and vacation and start all over for both with Save Mart? We have many questions and hope to have answers soon, if you know anything, please post. |

I have worked for Save Mart for over 18 years, we have had many people from other stores come work for us...here is the deal. You will lose your seniority as far as Save Mart employees are concerned. The seniority that you have accumulated through the union however stays with you, so your vacation, pension etc. will stay intact. You will just lose your seniority for company issues, schedule selection, vacation selection, promotions etc. We had a head clerk leave Lucky's after 22 years and came to work for Save Mart...he kept his 5 weeks vacation,worked 6 more years and retired under the Golden 85

What kind of Contracts will all new Save Mart Employees recieve are the better that Albertsons because theirs really suck, they will not give you as the employee benifts until 1 year after and your family until 2yrs after that is under the new contract. And will salary be better than at a 1 year employment of $8.60 that's a joke. If any S mart employees please Post.

Mike. I am a key carrier at save mart and make thirteen dollars per hour. key carriers at albertsons make eighteen seventy eight. Will thay all remain journeymen or will I get a raise? Also, albertsons stores have front end managers (head clerk), asst. front end managers,(journeymen), lobby clerks (video movies, etc), liquor managers (journeymen), bookeepers at each store, etc. What will happen to all these positions? I know one Albertsons store that has 20 journeymen alone. Also, their key carriers close the store at night. Not head clerks. What are your thoughts or anyone elses regarding this? thank you. |

Arrogance is the main eason companies like Albertsons have no right to exist. After 22 years of being the perfect employee, I have a work injury and I get canned.
The real problem was a egosentric miserable drunk that was sent to the store I worked. This 1980's era manager thought that if a employee didn't pee his pants when he walked by, he was not a good manager. The sad thing is I went to a supervisor and his response was "If you don't like it you can quit" so much for you are either part of the problem or part of the solution. This manager retired I still don't wish him a heart attack-that would be too easy, colon cancer and a long life would serve him well. |

So every single Albertson is going to become Save mart? Isnt Save Mart one of those "Bag it yourself" stores? My wife and I shop at Raily's or Safeway. Albertson has some of the worst employees. the cashiers are usually rude. The one here in Antioch isnt as bad as the one we used to go to in another city but they're still jerks.

There is hardly ever a reason to be rude to customers. However the pressure put on Albertson's employees to do more with less help is a constant. Often times the Store directors are highly critical of just about every move they make, always pushing to get the last drop of work out of them. This has caused many workers to go out on stress leave. We hope Save Mart will be much better to work for. By the way have you ever worked retail? Working weekends and late hours when just about everyone you know works Mon- Fri 8-5 can be a strain on the employee and their family.Try to go to family gatherings when most are in the evening or on weekends. How about a child's soccer game or Friday night football game, a evening play the list goes on. The pay is also not what it should be compared to today's salaries. These are the very reason we encouraged our kids to go to college get a degree and maybe they wont have to work. retail. If you have never had to work retail, count yourself fortunate. Sorry to vent, but having been married to a meat cutter for the past 31 years our family knows the ups and downs of retail. |

Oh no, this one guy was rude to us some years back. I think not to shortly after Albertsons bought out Lucky's. I used to work in a union shop. I worked for Safeway, Lucky's and Alpha Beta as well as a Walgreens Union store. It's all political. Most of the people in there are dumb as dirt and don't hold more then a High School diploma but some of them make a huge salary. Basically You need to look like a former Jock, Talk about sports a lot, be a team player and do your damnest to step on one another. because these guys will sell each other out in a heartbeat to get the next promotion. Oh, and for some reason Having the Name Mike almost always gets you a asst managers position. Anyone ever notice that? 2 out of 3 managers seem to be named Mike. Also, being apart of the L.Ron Hubart dyanetic cult helps you out. I think most of these guys are Scientologist. I alway saw that book floating around in the office.

THE REASON THAT SO MANY PEOPLE CAN'T MAKE IT ON THEIR SALARIES AND STILL COLLECT WELFARE IS BECAUSE THEY WORK FOR PLACES LIKE WALMART. WALMART DOESN'T PAY THERE EMPLOYEES GOOD AND MAKES THEM PAY FOR THEIR OWN BENEFITS. THEIR FAMILIES GO WITHOUT. ALBERTSONS AND SAFEWAY, PLACES LIKE THAT PAY A DESCENT WAGE AND KEEP PEOPLE OFF WELFARE. THINK BEFORE YOU TALK. YES PRICES ARE HIGH ON SOME THINGS BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOP THERE EITHER. AND BELEIVE IT OR NOT I AM A DEMOCRAT AND I FIGHT FOR PEOPLE AT WALMART TO GET HIGHER WAGES BUT IF YOU CONTINUE TO SAY OH JUST SHOP THERE WITHOUT THE FIGHT YOU ARE HURTING THE PEOPLE.

Savemart does not have lobby departments, liquor mamagers, front end managers, assistant front end managers or in store bookkeepers. They also do not have part time journeymans. What will happen to the people who hold these positions at Albertsons? These people are all journeymans and have been with the company awhile. Also, how can Savemart even possibly absorb all the high paid full time workers at Albertsons? If there is any room for all these journeyman or all these positions what about all those workers who have put in their time with Savemart waiting for promotional oppurtunities themselves? Anyone?

Good question. We are very concerned about the seniority that we stand to lose if the union doesn't have our backs. I would suggest that we bombard the union with phone calls about keeping our seniority. I know they have said that they are to meet with Save Mart about issues with this sale. They need to know what we are concerned about.The higher manager positions I am afraid will not be kept, especially since those positions you mentioned are not union. Since we have a union we need to demand that they voice our concerns and take action if those concerns are not addressed properly. We live in Clovis, Ca also and my husband is very stressed about his job, the job he has had with Albertson's for the past 15 years, they will need only so many meat cutters. The union will tell you not to worry, but they have not been sold twice in the last 6 months and look at the possibility of losing all their seniority! No seniority means no job security. I urge you to call the local here in Fresno and make your concerns know to your representative, this is why we pay union dues each month. |

Um.... about the Democrat part...... I believe it. Also, there are many, many companies that can no longer offer benefits. Due to the extremely high costs of group insurance, pharmacutical (sp?) raping, and opportunists. |

Or you can be like Wal-Mart and post record profits year after year...and then pay and TREAT your employees like dirt...no benefits..no retirement...just low prices...
