Florida Albertsons

Does anyone know whats going on with the Florida Albertsons? I'm hearing a lot of rumors about different companies buying some of the stores. Anyone hearing the same?

DENTON, Texas — Limited-assortment retailer Aldi plans to open its first Texas warehouse here within the next 18-24 months, a spokeswoman for the chain told SN yesterday. The Germany-based company, which has its U.S. headquarters in Batavia, Ill., has no stores in Texas yet, but plans to begin opening its compact, price-oriented outlets in the state as soon as the DC opens, the spokeswoman said. She declined to release further details about the center, but a report posted on the website of the Dallas Morning News yesterday said the $40 million DC will encompass 500,000 square feet on 185 acres near Denton Municipal Airport. The paper said Aldi plans 25 stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and said the DC will also serve Oklahoma, where Aldi has 13 stores. The news follows Aldi’s expansion into the Florida market with a DC in Haines City, scheduled to open in September.

Haven't heard anything about Aldi. We're hearing that Publix may buy a small number of the stores in the Panhandle. Probably just rumors.

Does anyone know anything about the Florida division? I keep on hearing that we have already been sold, but we just haven't been informed yet. I've also heard that we will be sold in early June...to who though? This is getting frustrating when you don't know what the heck is going on...

if anyone new anything anywhere we all eould know. been wondering about my job for a year

yeah heard rumors of that too, pensacola,fl

my wife works at albertsons in venice fl. and was told today that there is a pending agreement for publix to purchase 44 stores in fl.

Albertson's LLC to Sell 49 Florida Stores to Publix
BOISE, Idaho, June 9 /PRNewswire/-- Albertson's LLC announced today that it has accepted an offer from Publix Super Markets, Inc. to purchase 49 of the company's stores in Florida. The company intends to operate its remaining Florida division stores with the ongoing support of its distribution center in Plant City and division office in Lake Mary, Florida.

The asset transaction is expected to be complete in September with the following stores being sold to Publix:

Publix bought 40 stores including 3 in Pensacola.

Publix bought 49 stores in Fl ....... was told today! Naples, Fort Myers, Cape Coral and some in Orlando not sure where else but was also told the stores that publix didn't buy would be sold to other places and i am not talking grocery stores

Grand opening dates for the remodeled stores will be dependent on the extent of the remodeling necessary.

they are going to be sold to whom ever whats to but them......lazyboy bought the one on Cleveland ave....Albertson's is going to be a thing of the past!

Any idea how Publix is going to handle current ALB employees?

You will have to apply to Publix as if it were a new job which it is.

They are gonna do interviews even if you worked for Albertsons for 30 years.....I just have to have some faith .....here been with the company 29 years...and a grocery store before that...time will tell I guess...for the last few years I even hated saying that I worked at Albertsons!

I think they wouldn't have the people to run these stores at least I hope not Publix is a good company...sit tight...i really think if you have the skills it will be alright !
