Is anyone here involved with off the clock lawsuit and if so have you heard anything as to when this will be paid out. I would think ALbertsons would have to pay all debt before the sale could be finalized. Does anyone have an answer or has anyone talked to any of the lawyers about this. The thing is the lawyers already got their payment. I think it is about time we got ours NOW too.

I wish I knew too. I talked to the lawyers about a month ago. They said that they are still putting a dollar amount on the claims. However, they are optimistic about it ending soon. They also said that Albertsons probably won't challenge any claims because it would be very costly for them to do especially with the sale of the company. I tried to see if I could get my husband claim expedited because he just recently(March) passed away and I(and my two kids)could really use the money.

I am so sorry for your recent loss. I am sure the money would help right about now. We were told a while ago that all claimants had to paid out before the sale could be finalized, which we were told might be as soon as next week. I thought the sale being final was final, but I guess it will take some more time to tie up the loose ends. I contacted the Claims administrator office, the ones who are valuing our claims and they said the following in an email ..... "There have been numerous issues between parties which must be decided in Court. It is not possible at this time to predict how quickly the process will move forward or when any payments will be made or the value of your claim at this time. We have no knowledge of the terms of the Albertson's sale. " But I really don't know who to believe any more! I just wish we would get our check SOON! Take care of you and your family.

Just so that you are aware of it, the shareholders of Albertsons need to approve the sale of the company. The vote to approve the sale is being held on the 30th of May 2006 in New York City. This should be the last step prior to setting the exact date of the transaction of ownership. I wish that the lawyers were doing a better job of keeping the participants in the case aware of what is going on, but they already have their money, that kind of allows them to take their time.

Yes, they have their money and this is one of the biggest problems! Albertson's employees where told that the entire company has been sold, meaning all stores. THIS IS STATED ON ALBERTSON'S WEBSITE AS WELL, GO TO THEIR PAGE TO SEE THEIR COMPANY STATEMENT http://www.albertsons.com/abs_investorinforma...
YET APPARENTLY ALBERTSON'S, ACCORDING TO THE LAWYERS, DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SAYING, READ WHAT SOMEONE FROM THE LAWYERS OFFICE EMAILED BE TODAY...."Albertson's is only selling off a part of its business. It is our understanding that Albertson's will still continue to operate stores and business interests under the Albertson's name. The process of valuing claims continues. There were issues before the court regarding the clarification and verification process that had to be decided before the final valuation could be done. We don't have a timeline because the next step in the process is an opportunity for Albertson's to challenge claims they think are too high and to seek to arbitrate those claims. At this time, we don't expect that to be an extensive process. As soon as we have any information, we will contact you, first by email followed by regular U.S.post. Thanks for your continued interest and contact." I FOR ONE THINK IT IS ALL JUST A WAY TO PUST US OFF, THEY ARE TRYING TO APPEASE US, IF THEY HAD NOT ALREADY BEEN PAID AND HAD TO WAIT AND GET THEIR PAYOUT WITH US, WE WOULD OF SEEN THE CHECK LONG AGO! If anyone out there can read smoke signals let me know. Thanks! |

I have emailed Webster,Mrak & Blumberg with no response from them yet. I hope for all the Albertsons employees that resolution is coming one way or the other. It would be nice for the www.albsuits.com website to be updated at least with some sort of statement. This would reduce the considerable email traffic I am sure they are experiencing. It seems that this goes like everything else at the Big A, with the employee the last to know and usually the one who must be sacrificed. I had 18 years with the company before injuring myself on the job and them not allowing me to come back into a job. We always knew working for Albertsons that we were only our employee number to anyone above store level. In the store we were only as good as the last time we worked for free to help payroll.

I have worked for the Big A since 1989. So I been there done that and bought the fricking T-Shirt. I worked for them in California and in Flordia (they even have Shaws up North which is or was part of Albo's). All I can say is Joe must be rolling around in his grave. When I first started it was not the nameless, faceless employee with no feelings or rights. And kendoggy you are right it was all about "What Have You Done For Me Latley" Albertsons Mentalty. I quit in 2004 and i have had a smile ever since!!! The lawsuit is a joke if it goes on any longer i could have lived off the intrest from the money i have never recieved. Well enough of my b***h session (I COULD GO ON FOR DAYS!!!!) Good Luck to you former and still employed Big A (the A stands for AssH**E)pepole.

Read below what the Albsuits web site is saying now and please tell me if any of you know how long this can drag out before a court steps in and says enough!! I know since the sale of Albertson’s that the lawyers that were paid 17.5 million already for handling this case must feel the heat as everyone says" if Albertson’s is sold who is still fighting us", if only the lawyers had to wait for their money like we have to, I think this case would of been settled long ago! Any one have thoughts on this matter we are suppose to be so patient for.
Last Modified: Monday, July 10, 2006 Status Update All claims must be processed before Albertsons is obligated to pay any claims under the Settlement. Many of the claims that were filed were not filled out properly and Albertsons has objected to this. We provided clarified information about most of these claims to address this objection, but the Court has limited the information the Claims Administrator can consider. The Court has ordered the Claims Administrator to review these claims to determine if they can be valued and, if so, what that value is. The Claims Administrator is scheduled to complete this review in August. Once the value of the claims has been determined Albertson's will have the opportunity to challenge claims they think are too high, thus delaying the process still further. Accordingly, we do not expect any money to be paid until next year at the earliest, and it could be delayed well beyond that. We have received several inquiries about those individuals who have received a settlement disbursement. This involves a separate action (Thompson v. Albertson's) in which some 100 ex-Albertson's employees recovered unpaid wages for off-the-clock work that was not covered by the settlement in Barton. Albertson's chose to settle that action but continues to fight compensating claimants in the Barton action. You may hear a brief delay before leaving a message. Please wait for the prompt to engage then, if you wish to leave a message at the end of this update, please speak clearly and include your name, social security number, address, phone number and email address. Email will be answered promptly. Due to call volume, there will be some delay in returning phone calls. It is very important that you advise the Claims Administrator and us if your contact information changes. We thank you for your continued patience in this matter. |

I am not sure that the lawyers even know what is going on at this point. They got their money and who cares about the rest of us. I just can't believe that it will be some time next year or longer. This has gone way too long.

GOne on way too long is such a huge understatement!! I don't know why or how they can still fight this now that Albertsons is owned by another company that was not involved in the lawsuit in the first place!!! But just think we are getting 6% interest (form July 2000 til the end) on the money that we are suppose to get some day over the rainbow!!!

I think we all need to voice our concerns with Webster,Mrak, and Blumberg law offices. If they keep telling us they have no idea or that they are fighting for us, well then we all need to get ahold of 20/20 or any other T.V. show that would love to expose a crooked law firm. Like most of you have said, They have been paid. I e-mailed the law firm and asked them to take our lump sum and divide up between all the parties and cut us a check. It has been 7 years, and the longer we have to wait the more this law firm gets. Let me know if anyone whats to go this route. I need support. Thanks.

Sounds good to me. maybe negative publicity will get the ball rooling with albertsons and the law firm.

Contact Washington State Bar Association. I have posted their website information below. Call the 800 number and ask them what you need to do to file a complaint with the law firm. This is the web site http://www.wsba.org/info/default.htm
I called them and they are sending me a complaint form. If we all file a complaint ,then I am sure the Washington State Bar Association, which is where Webster,Mrak,& Blumberg are located, might just get them moving! Tell everyone you know that is involve in this suite to call the number and have them mail them a complaint form fill it out and send it back ASAP!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!! Do it today, lets all join in to get them off their butts, so we can get our money too, not just the law firm! |
|
|
Thanks, for the link and phone number, I will also get a form and wage a complaint. This law firm must be very, very close to the union out of wahsington. Remember that strike in cali. cost the union money to. A lot of money! The longer this suit goes on the more they cut from us. And some of that money does belong to us. So any one reading this, get behind "wish I knew" from Fresno and call the state board for a complaint form. Or call 20/20, or dateline, any big t.v. show will eat this up if they see there is merit. And 7 years later, I think we have a problem. GREED on the law firms part

Thank you for the web site. This thing has been going on for to long. Not only do we get screwed on not getting paid for our work, but the lawyers are taking there sweet time on getting us paid.

Ok we need to ALL go to this website and call the number http://www.wsba.org/info/default.htm and ask for the Grievance department. They will send you a complaint form. We need to ALL do this to get the Washington State Bar association to look in to this. so Please Call them NOW.......

I spoke with one of the lawyers and he said that they had a court date for Sept. 8. He said that the court can put a stop to Albertsons dragging out this lawsuit and indicatied that maybe this court date was the time in which they would do that. I told him we were all very fraustrated and he said they were also. I don't know if he was making that up or what. But still go to the website listed above adn ask for a compaint. form. I am going to call the lawyer back next week beacause he said they should know somting then. I would post the number but this forum won't allow me to do so.
