Oregon won't be a pushover | BuckeyeXtra

Full story: Columbus Dispatch

You're damn right..."Oregon won't be a pushover"! Let's hope the Bucks aren't, either!

Hey Ray Small...better turn in the performance of your life against Oregon after serving up your bulletin board comments. Respect your opponent and let your actions on the field do the talking! GO BUCKS!!!

I hope this is the year we finally win one, but I'm not holding my breath. At least the Bucks are talking a good game.

Considering we're ranked lower than Oregon, and with our record in big games lately, we shouldn't assume Oregon is a pushover. If anything, they are the ones that could have a similar article with this heading, not us. We have not proven to be good enough in big games to assume any team a pushover. The title of the article makes it sound like we're favored. Maybe Buckeye fans see it that way, which is cool but the rest of the nation would look at this article as being cocky. We should take the underdog role and GO with it.

I imagine the buckeyes will play good and close and lose it in the end. Coach only knows one way to play in tight games,..tight!!

Our only hope is if we can run against the Ducks with a 4/yd clip, if not its going to be 4 straight losses in bowls.

I agree---humility and not hubris is appropriate in this situation. The Buckeyes have "the potential to win", but whether or not it is "actual" depends on several things both within and beyond their control. We have not earned the right to go into this game cocky at all---respect the opponent, put in the work and do your talking on the field..

This game may get real ugly. Our only chance is our defense holding the Ducks to less than 17 points which will be a huge task. If only we had a QB and an offensive coordinator. Maybe Santa Claus will bring us one or both. Otherwise it is a year of bad recruiting and the final slide of the Bucks to the middle of a weak conference.

I am in total agreement with JTH. I could not have written it any better. If this headline had appeared in the Oregon papers, it would have been much more justified. Oregon is ranked ahead of OSU and will most likely be the favorite. Remember OSU vs USC, and Oregon vs USC -- enough said.

After watching Oregon win against Oregon State, my only hope is whether Ohio State will have any gas in their tank after the first half. Oregon's speed of play was absolutely amazing. As to the fact that they, meaning Oregon, haven't seen a defense like Ohio States, they handled USC quite well. Ohio State and their coaching staff need to keep their mouths shut and concentrate on conditioning. They'll need it.

PUSHOVER?! Have you watched them play? They run a defense ragged. The players are fired up. But the bottle neck is Tresselball. If Tressel runs 3 bucks into the line and punts - so they DON`T MAKE A MISTAKE,keeps it close - and runs the defense back out without a break, OR will run away with it in the 4th Q. As long as they have to play Tresselball all the firing up will make no difference, talent and motivation will be choked off by a coach that doesn`t want to make a mistake. Get rid of Tresselball, get rid of Tressel!

Billium1953 - there is no Santa Claus! Are rumors true that Thomas and Washington want to transfer? All you guys who think these WR's still want to play here are crazy. 2 catches 8 yards. The buckeyes offered a schlorship to a 3 star QB - Good for him, but does that mean the buckeyes are not going to get many of the top players left? Recruiting is going to suffer because of Tressel and his offensive (lack off) staff! The writing may be on the wall! When is Tressel going to realize what is going on? May be a while , it took 9+ years of 3 or more losses fro them to get Bowden out!

Uh, Ken.....why would this team or Buckeye Nation at large, think of any BCS opponent as being a "pushover" considering the recent legacy of games?
Unfortunately, against elite OOC competition, the "pushover" label belongs to tOSU until we rid ourselves of it.

"they've had 2 practices"...are you kidding me. They have been off for 2 weeks and they have only had 2 practices. I hope Ken got bad info. If they haven't been going full tilt since the Sun after Mich, that is even more reason to re-evaluate the coaching staff. I have no doubt that the Bucks are going to win, but they need to get back on the field and get their mind off Disneyland.

Congrats to the team they deserve a great finish and bowl experience...
Too bad the team hasn't been playing and practicing the last few weeks like a couple of other teams around the country, ie ducks....
Bye week in the middle of the season would be great...take off Thanksgiving if you need to but what's the point of defending the BCS system every year and making it to the big game if your school and the conference you represent aren't competitive? I think Wisc. and Ill. are starting to get it...'time and change will surely show'-that it's time for the change part!

Like Ohio State needed to have some early bulletin board material for the Ducks. Who have the Buckeyes played in a bowl that has been a push over??

I think this audience is becoming hypercritical to a fault. I agree with concerns about Tresselball and our QB's limitations but see nothing at all wrong with the tone of the players comments, the article, or the headline. The Bucks know they have to win and are going to give it all they got. As for the two days of practice it is still 24 days before the game!

It gets tiring to constantly hear about a team's "speed" yatta-yatta. Yes, Oregon has speed, but so does Ohio State. In fact, you can't be a D-1 college playing in a BCS bowl game without speed.

I recall all of us fretting and worrying last year about the outlandish speed of Texas, and how they were just gonna run all over us all night? Well, OSU lost, but it wasn't because of the speed of Texas.

Nothing makes a team look slower than a well-executed game plan. The speed is merely the frosting on the cake - but the cake itself is the execution.
