Actually, whites came over here as "indentured servants" to pay off debts they never paid. And the 7 year pay off was the length of time allowed. These whites were often used as "over se'er" to keep the newly shipped Africans in line for the rich plantation owners. The Indians often escaped because they were already here and knew the land. Africans could'nt swim back to West Africa.

Wait what -- you are absolutely 100% correct. My great grandmother was bought by a wealthy family in Cleveland, OH. Our family is Czech and needless to say we are white. As for the Negroes, their OWN kind started slavery. There was warring between the tribes and the winners sold their captives to whomever would buy them. Sure, they were brought to America -- but THEIR OWN KIND SOLD THEM INTO SLAVERY. As a note, most of these slaves were then purchased by wealthy individuals and educated and became very successful.(Unlike the welfare slugs we now support.)

West Africans are completely different people from Eastern Africans. They have a different religion, culture, history, language and appearance. Eastern Africans are some of the Earliest Christians. Northern Africans are primarily Arabs or mixed. Southern Africans are a completely different animal.

Calling yourself an "African" is as stupid as calling yourself a "European" or "North American". A Frenchman has little in common with a Russian, just as an Alaskan has little in common with a Mexican.

mr. Enzyte... You are technically correct about the name Africa, which was the name of a Roman who's name was Africanis. The land had it's own name which the people of each region named it. So why do we call ourselves AMERICANS, when an Italian guy named Amerigo Vespuchi called this land after himself? African slaves were very expensive during the late 1600s (50 Sterling). Irish slaves came cheap (no more than 5 Sterling). If a planter whipped or branded or beat an Irish slave to death, it was never a crime. A death was a monetary setback, but far cheaper than killing a more expensive African.
