I was "Money and Education" and am now known as "Flu Go Away" (I have multiple personality disorder). I didn't say we shouldn't ask any particular question. That's absurd. All I said was we don't know the answer to this question of ultimate causation. And, the problem is in the face of not knowing, the blithering morons in the public have just robotically taken a position that PRESUMES we know. That is, the blithering moron average man in the street believes in "God". Maybe there is one but we don't know one way or another so it is the height of idiocy to basically announce to your peers, "Well, we don't know so I'll just ARBITRARILY, for no good reason at all, "believe". It's just stupid. Believe in facts and when you got enough facts to draw a conclusion on a particular topic do it, but don't be a ROBOT IN THE MEANTIME!

Back to my flu rants, the flu will end up closing the schools anyway, if the Administrators don't start opening their mouths and do something, so you won't have to worry about the budget.

Science begins with asking questions and hypothesizing answers. However, when ones asks the question "who or what created the original mass of the universe, and who or what lit the fuse on the Big Bang" the response of some of the greatest scientists of our age is to dismiss the question because they don't know how to find the answer. For example, I have heard James Peebles, the Albert Einstein Professor of Astrophysics at Princeton University, whose research field is the evolution of the universe say that "we can't understand what happened before the Big Bang, so we don't discuss it."
There most certainly has to be one. Let's not tell our kids that the question is invalid just because there's a chance that the answer might be that there's one or more entities outside our space-time that is responsible.
It's safe to say that every culture on our planet has developed a mythology that attempts to answer this question. Check out the research and writing of Joseph Campbell sometime.
Doesn't it merit studying those answers, if for no other reason than to gain a better understanding of the other cultures inhabiting our planet? Doesn't the Judeo-Christian-Muslim tradition of the Creation Story merit as much respect as that of the Mayans or the ancient Greeks?
It seems to me that the outright hostility towards exposing kids to this fundamental thread of all cultures should alarm us greatly. If the people of this planet are to live together, we need to foster understanding and empathy - not the kind of anti-religion ferver that prevents questions like mine from even being discussed.

Hey pal, most of us are in a hurry and don't have time to check for english, etc. Just as long as the basic message gets out!!!

Because of the fractured English and sloppy expression so many of the people contributing to this board exhibit, you'll excuse me if I suspect these folks cut their English classes (at the very least) so they could stand outside in the shadows smoking dope. On the other hand, the misspellings, dangling participles, sentence ending prepositions and hyperbolic juxtapositions may actually support their supposition, that the teachers aren't teaching.(Or as one gentleman said, "They suck!") My guess is the teachers were teaching but they didn't have a whole lot in the way of some students to work with. As a principal was once overheard saying, "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear."

That IS your basic message--that you don't know proper English usage. Makes me ask myself, what else doesn't this guy know? Why should I take him seriously?

Regarding your note below, most Americans are utterly illiterate and the prevalence of illiteracy at this point is about on par with that witnessed during the death throes of previous empires.

This society is so corrupt, frankly I'm speechless. What does America stand for: One dollar, one vote. Tens of millions with no health insurance. More than a fifth of the national output reserved for a vanishingly small group of capitalist bloodsuckers. The country is doomed...get used to it. Regarding these school levies, which represent more welfare for the already well off: VOTE NO ON SCHOOL LEVIES...WHAT IS THE POINT OF GIVING YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS TO MASTERS OF PROPAGANDA?
