COLUMBUS, Ohio - Longtime 10TV News anchor Andrea Cambern announced on Thursday that she will step down from the 10TV anchor desk in May 2012. In a staff meeting hosted by WBNS-10TV President and General Manager Tom Griesdorn on Thursday afternoon, Cambern told WBNS and ONN staff that "after 20 years, it is simply the right time." She stressed that she will still be a passionate member of the central Ohio community and will continue supporting causes that are important to her including the fight against cancer, heart health for women, and the hallmark community fitness initiative, Commit to be Fit, among others. Cambern joined WBNS-TV in 1991 after working at television stations in Tucson and Phoenix, Ariz. Many of those years have been at the side of her co-anchor and friend, Jerry Revish. The two have been side-by-side on the anchor desk for over 18 years. "This is without a doubt the hardest decision I have ever made," Cambern said. "There are few things I care more about than this job and this community. But the one thing that trumps them all is my family. This transition in my life will give me more time with them and more time to devote to the things that I am passionate about. My gratitude to the people of WBNS, the Dispatch Printing Co. and to the viewers of central Ohio is immeasurable. I consider them like family." "Andrea is part of the fabric of central Ohio," Griesdorn said. "No television anchor cares more for their viewers and their community than Andrea Cambern. This is one of the saddest days in my 40-plus years in broadcasting. But we love Andrea and we will respect her wishes to help her continue her passion for central Ohio causes in this next phase of her life." Griesdorn announced that the search for a new anchor will begin immediately. Cambern's last broadcast will be during the 6 p.m. news on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. WBNS-10TV is a member of the Dispatch Broadcast Group, which also includes Ohio News Network, WBNS-AM/FM and Radio Sound Network in Columbus; WTHR-TV and SkyTrak Weather Network in Indianapolis.

She'll be emceeing 5 non profit fundraising lunches/dinners/auctions a week instead of the 3 she's doing right now. $100 bet says she adds some NOW-affiliated craptastic org's to her roster. This town is crawling with them and they can't wait to get their meat hooks into that long black hair

He was surprised to hear from me of all people that I don't blame them for cutting Topix off, however it would be to their benefit to restore the backdoor access to articles like Topix used to have.

Do you think Corby would even want the gig? He doesn't seem like a real go getter in the first place. Who would want to get up at 3 am every day for the kind of money they give you in radio?

I'm guessing the TV anchors make $150 - 200k and someone like Bob Connors probably makes $120k - 150k. I don't have a clue as I don't work in the media. Corby has to make over $80k. Just a wild guess. Not bad for talking into a microphone for 1 1/2 hours every day.
