Good for Columbus school district! He is our president and was elected by an overwhelming popular election. The Right's behaviour since this election has been absolutely shameful and lacking in any sort of civility or class. This is no different than when Bush addressed kids back in 91. Some things should transcend politics and it is shameful that parents should make their kids into political pawns.

Show me. I would be against that too. As for my grandchildren...this administration is putting an outrageous debt on their heads. The last administration was not fiscally responsible, but this one is worse. What THEY are doing to OUR grandchildren is shameful.

Hmmmm...Adolf Hitler did the same thing...since he couldn't get to his opposition through the voters...we'll get to them through their children. I've heard the arguments that "other" presidents have done the same...No other presidents made brief presentations (limited mind you) on education and health issues and it was on nationwide TV...NOT a closed forum. Obama is a megalomaniac...He'll find his adoration even if he has to go to farms and preach his liberalism in front of a herd of donkeys... As I heard one commentator say last night....Obama wants to talk to our children, an audience that will actually believe him since, in fact, they WERE born yesterday. Great line.

"But critics, fueled by talk radio and conservative bloggers, have objected nationwide, fearing the address from a high school in Virginia will cross the line into politics." This comment and many others I've read are absurd. I saw the story and lesson plan on Drudge, read it and was pissed off about the lesson plan. I hadn't heard about it before that and nobody told me what to do. The lesson plan was Dear Leaderish and you cannot read it and come away with a different conclusion unless your partisan. His speech will be fine, Obama isn't stupid and I'm sure it will be read well. But notice they got rid of that agenda super fast??? They got called on it and ran. That's why I wrote the principal of my kids elementary school, television address is fine, Dear Leaderish included agenda was not.

"They" are the sneering defenders of Barack Obama who can't fathom the backlash against the president's nationwide speech to schoolchildren next Tuesday. "We" are parents with eyes wide open to the potential for politicized abuse in America's classrooms. Ask moms and dads in Farmington, Utah, who discovered this week that their children sat through a Hollywood propaganda video promoting the cult of Obama. In the clip, a parade of entertainers vow to flush their toilets less, buy hybrid vehicles, end poverty and world hunger, and commit to "service" for "change." My gosh, it sounds beastly. Who knew? Socialism is making movie stars commit to living more responsibly. OMG!

You Ohio IDIOTS!!!! What the hell is wrong with you people? You have a president telling your kids to stay in school and try to be a success in life and you don't want them to hear that??? I bet if it were a stupid Buckeyes game you would expect school to be canceled so the kids could watch that huh?

Glenn Beck for President. You know he's more honest and NOT a communist like Van Jones and our president, Mr. Hinkey. He's all wee wee'd out.

It is bad enough that parents are teaching their kids to disrespect the office of the President; it is even worse that the administrations at Davidson and Coffman, schools that I used to think represented integrity and excellence, caved to such nonsense and pulled the plug.

What would have been really shameful is if Obama had let all the banks fail and put our economy into a depression. Then your grandchildren would really be in trouble. At least now they still have a country.

You are paraphrasing. But if people can get on Fux news and call for the assasination of the president and you butholes don't complain how can you have any credibility?

This article left out the main reason most parents object, and why they believe it is political indoctrination--the optional preparatory materials from the U.S. Department of Education that ask students to write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. That sounds like something that would happen in Cuba.

Obama is a communist. All his friends are communists. Communists are outdated, intellectual, proven failures. Therefore, our president and his friends are outdated, intellectual proven failures too. Get them out in 2010 and finish them off in 2012. Boycott communist's stores, movies, TV shows, and unions. Give your children's teacher's hell if they teach communist principles and bad mouths America. Communists are our enemies after all. Screw all communists and anyone else that gives aid and comfort to the enemy. Namely democrats. Obama and his cohorts have made it more than perfectly clear that they are communists and seek America's downfall. Make them wait in line. Refuse to lend them money. THEY ARE OUR ENEMY. ENEMIES OF THE STATE. TREAT THEM AS SUCH.

Healthcare, 2 wars, the economy, wildfires, H1N1, and no jobs......But he wants to take time to lie to our kids. Really? Obama started the wildfires and the H1N1 virus? Who knew he was so powerful? And I suppose W had nothing to do with the wars and recession. Get a clue.

As I understand: the ones opposed to having their kids listen to a speech about staying IN school are protesting by keeping their kids OUT of school. Right, I suppose a good reason to not attend school might be to avoid learning to see irony when it exists.
