Belmonte "was leading a respectful, law-abiding life," Shamansky said. "We're going to stipulate that people were hurt in this accident, but he is not a criminal."
He killed an 11 year old girl and injured others! How do you call that law abiding he did it while having alcohol in his system which is by the law ILLEGAL!!!! So that is BREAKING THE LAW!! I don't see how breaking the law makes him a law abiding citizen and an 11 year old girl lays dead because of his actions and who knows if any of those children now have irreversable damage done to them (minus losing their sister) same with her father.

Fed Up With Your Bullshit wrote: Everyone here seems to forget that they weren't there when this happened. Perhaps you have been behind a wheel after having a drink, perhaps you haven't. But considering that no one was there to see what happened, and considering that a mans life is at stake, maybe you should all stop your pointless angry bickering and finger-pointing and stop judging him. Let the courts do that. Whether someone's family is 'white trash' or someone is some form of cop doesn't matter--at the end of the day everyone goes home a human, and that's all they are. You all sound ignorant and angry, but you aren't the people with a right to be angry. I have heard that the family of the little girl is sitting in the court arguing about who's getting the money. I'm not sure whether or not this is true, and I'm not going to judge them for it. You should stop judging HIM for one stupid mistake, which (yes) was extremely tragic, but that does not mean that it was a habit, or that he had done this before. For those of us who don't know the facts (which is all of us, since we weren't there) stop bitching and throw your judgment aside. How would you feel if you were in his shoes? How would I feel if I were in his shoes? Let's see, I would NEVER be in his shoes. I have NEVER decided to drink and drive, nor would I ever. Even with only a couple of drinks, you're still impaired. It simply is not worth it. I know I would never forgive myself if I was in an accident that seriously injured or killed someone, even if I had only one beer. Why risk it? Maybe that makes me a bitch for not being able to sympathize with him but I don't. Do I feel sorry for his family? Yes. I feel even worse for Dalynaca's family. Perhaps I was guilty of judging him before the verdict came in. From what I've heard, nothing new came out at the trial that would have changed my mind. Of course, not all of the details are publicly available just yet. He made a terrible, tragic mistake that night. The bottom line though is that it was his choice and now he will have to deal with whatever sentencing he receives.

Intoxication wrote: I was in the hospital the weekend this accident happened. And I had the oppurtunity to talk with both men. I did hear that both men had been drinking. But I never heard what Mr. Wilburns levels where. Also, Mr. Wilburn stated in the hospital that it was his fault for not having her in a seatbeat! And If you look at his driving record you will see he has a long history of unsafe driving. The night this happened was a cold and rainy night, and he had 5 kids in a small car with no seatbelts. I think it would also be a good idea to contact one of Mr. Belmonte's family members and meet with them about this. Are you willing?

Everyone one of you make me sick. So what he had a few drinks, most of you have drank and thought you were able to drive. just because the limit is set with the state of ohio doesnt really mean he was drunk. Give it a rest. I do feel for the family who lost their daughter. But accidents do happen. As stated in one post, wasnt the father driving? Was he chaecked for drinking? There is alot mpre to these stories then the dispatch writes , believe that, and i do know first hand. They put in bits and pieces of the story and ypu the public thinks its the whole truth. At least this man was smart enough to get a goos attorney and not some public defender who doesnt give a rats ass about defending anyone. Maybe he is guilty but that doesnt maan he needs to be locked up. I dont care what you have to say about my post, so dont bother. I ran across this article. My family has been in a similar situation, and none of you would even understand unless you were. Stop your trash talking about the families, sitting behind a computwr screen. Most of you have no clue and your two cents is wrthless, you just wanta talk your shit,, move on
