You have got to be kidding me! He was almost twice the legal limit, wrong side of the road, hits a car headon killing one and maiming another and "Sam The Sham" Samansky blames the victim!

Driving drunk is not leading a "respectiful, law-abiding life," It's leading a selfish, "rules don't apply to me" kind of life. Neither the drunk driving nor "messing" with your phone while operating a moving vehicle implies that one is leading a life that is RESPECTFUL of the lives around them. It shows only a very self-centered, neglectful person who thinks they and their needs are the most important part of the world around them.

another example of cops doing what ever they want....hope he gets life.....he is a worthless bum .... he should of pleaded guilty so the parents didnt have to sit through trial, but he is to much of a worthless bum (cop) for that.

What difference does it make that he was a cop? He was off-duty - he could've been a plumber, does that mean all plumbers are worthless bums? Seems like you have a lot of animosity towards cops; have you had run-ins with the law? That might make you a "worthless bum".

Sure he is a criminal. He got drunk, got behind the wheel and killed someone. It doesn't matter if he plays cop. He still broke the law and killed somebody. Come on Shamansky. You're a lawyer. Even you can see this ( Even though the names are close, we are not related lol)

C'mon, Sam...you can really stand there and make those statements. Can you come to my Memorial Day cookout? I really don't want you there, but I figure that if I have you stand in my garden and spew things like this, I can save a bundle on fertilizer this year.

The only way that we are going to end the scourge of drunk driving in Columbus is for prosecutors to take these cases seriously. In Nassau County, Long Island, there is a District Attorney, who recently prosecuted a drunk driver; the drunk was convicted of murder! We cannot have a system, whereby people with several drunk driving convictions are still on the road. This time, Mr. Shamansky and his client are going to strike out. His client is going down, and is going to do some serious jail time.

Shame on you!!! Are you honestly going to point out the records of her family? What do they have to do with this? It doesn't matter what record someone in her family has. I am not defending, nor attacking, her family or anything they may have done previously. You can't compare apples to oranges. They are different incidents and should be kept separate. Two wrongs still don't make a right. He made a choice to drive after drinking. He needs to accept the role he played in an innocent girl's death. Hopefully justice will be served at the end of this trial. If not, he will eventually get what's coming to him. What comes around, goes around -- for everyone!

It was terrible that death has occured to this little girl ABSOLUTLY! I also think people should not make any comments unless they know what's really going on!There's also a diffrence between having A DRINK and BEING DRUNK...You all have done the same thing lets not lie to ourselves!! Then I will end by saying WERE ALL WRONG!!!!

SORRY TO SAY YOUR WRONG. HE WAS NOT LEADING A LAW-ABIDING LIFE.....IF HE WAS HE WOULD NOT BE DRINKING AND DRIVING OR MESSING WITH A CELL PHONE TO BEGIN WITH. FOR GODS SAKE HE WAS A COP. IT'S THE LAW YOU CAN'T DRIVE DRUNK. IT'S ALWAYS JUST A COUPLE OF BEER'S. EVERYONE KNOWS IT'S NEVER REALLY JUST A COUPLE. IT'S TOO BAD THE DRUNK IS ALWAYS THE ONE WHO WALKS AWAY.

"Belmonte "was leading a respectful, law-abiding life," Shamansky said. "We're going to stipulate that people were hurt in this accident, but he is not a criminal."..... .Are you kidding me???? What is law-abiding about drinking and driving and killing an innocent child???? What is law-abiding about a Police Officer drinking and driving and killing???? What a jerk. I hope he gets jail time and has to pay this family big bucks for medical and psychological damage!!!

Ive known Chris and his family for 20+ years. This doesnt surprise me at all about him. Hes always had the arrogant attitude. His family are good people(except for one brother that became a Columbus Police officer, then quit shortly later). I hope Chris does serious time. I pray for the family of the little girl.
