WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court struck down most of Arizona’s strict law targeting illegal immigrants, but said Arizona’s police can stop, question and briefly detain immigrants if they have reason to believe they are in the country illegally.

The justices said the federal government has the ultimate authority to decide who will be held on immigration charges and deported.

While police cans stop people they suspect are illegal immigrants, the justices said the police have limited authority. They must check with federal immigration agents before deciding to hold the suspects.

The justices also blocked parts of the Arizona’s SB 1070 that would have made it state crime for illegal immigrants to carry documents or to seek work.

The court’s decision appears to give states such as Arizona a quite limited role in enforcing the laws against illegal immigrants.

Their police can notify federal agents if they have a suspect in custody, but they cannot keep them in a county jail on state charges.

short answer no.
I am proposing getting rid of an administration that refuses to enforce US immigration law and the will of the people.
SCOTUS had no choice, enforcement of immigration laws is under the jurisdiction of the federal government.
Convenient ain't it?
The current administration has been deporting illegals in record numbers.

You know I am not a violent person, but my parents live in AZ 6 months out of the year, concerns me for their safety as the drugs, killings keep moving.

I guess I shouldn't worry so much, they live in a gated community.

Thanks Spook for meshing my references as I intended.

The problem, of course, is that this is not exactly the truth. The folks rolling out the welcome mat are the folks who do the hiring.

Hey Reader, Reader, read all about it. Do you have any comprehension about the drug trading, underground tunnels that go into Arizona? The fruit picker is the least of my worries, lax entry into the USA is.

Zimmerman is not ok. He was charged by a worthless piece of sh^t masquerading as a prosecutor. Zimmerman should never have been arrwsted or charged and he should have received payment for his wonds and the used ammo.
So, given a choice between the two, you would rather be Trayvon right now?

Reader thinks drugs are sent into her neighborhoods by the CIA, the Catholic Church, Herman Cain and Fox News. After all, those oppressed brown people she seeks to canonize are all such noble God-fearing types.

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/drug-smugglers-...
Drug smugglers are endlessly creative when it comes to inventing ways to move marijuana, cocaine and other contraband from Mexico into the United States.
In the latest innovation uncovered by law enforcement, smugglers in the border town of Nogales, Arizona were bringing drugs into the U.S. for the cost of a quarter.
The parking meters on International Street, which hugs the border fence in Nogales, cost 25 cents. Smugglers in Mexico tunneled under the fence and under the metered parking spaces, and then carefully cut neat rectangles out of the pavement. Their confederates on the U.S. side would park false-bottomed vehicles in the spaces above the holes, feed the meters, and then wait while the underground smugglers stuffed their cars full of drugs from below.

When the exchange was finished, the smugglers would use jacks to put the pavement "plugs" back into place. The car would drive away, and only those observers who were looking closely would notice the seams in the street.
In all, U.S. Border Patrol agents found 16 tunnels leading to the 18 metered parking spaces on International Street. The pavement is now riddled with neat, symmetrical patches.
"It's unbelievable," Nogales mayor Arturo Garino told Tucson, Arizona ABC affiliate KGUN. "Those are the strides these people take to get the drugs across the border."
Past methods of smuggling have included catapults that launch bales of drugs across the border fence. "The [smugglers] have tried everything," said Garino, "and this is one of the most ingenious [methods] of them all.
The city, advised by Homeland Security, has agreed to remove the parking meters. Nogales stands to lose $8,500 annually in parking revenue, plus the cost of citations.

Oooh, removing parking meters is a HUGE crackdown.

Oblige me. Hubby traveled for work last week. He got scanned, swabbed, and stroked, okay, he's doing what TSA asks of him. Foreigners waltz right through. Profile, keep the USA safe. Hubby with a carry on, scary, family of four going to a resort, scary, let's pick on them, they look safe and I can reach my quota of people searched.

Reader you are silly if you have faith in the government without a crackdown on illegals.

I'm tired of being treated like the enemy. If you want to live here, fine, do it correctly.

I know, but still freaked out. We have the same numerals as another house in the neighborhood, so I do get their mail at times. It was for mortgage refinancing, government backed financing. On it. Why couldn't they use Reader's address?

The Supreme Court has no authority of Judicial Review.

It also is just a political arm of the majority in the Court. It's a joke regardless of what side your own.

They vote ideology more often than the merits of what is presented.

"Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him .... Any alien who fails to comply with [these provisions] shall be guilty of a misdemeanor..."

So, we require legal permanent residents to carry their papers, but today the SCOTUS ruled that illegal aliens aren't required to carry ID.

No wonder this country is in the toilet.
