He should spend his whole sentence in jail all at once. Not getting out to do anything for his 90 days. I certainly hope the fire department gets rid of this guy. His 90 days shold be spent tied to a pipe suspended in mid air. People like this jerk disgust me. I'm glad his co workers turned him in. Joking about killing the dogs....maybe he & Michael Vick should go to counseling together!!

He should spend his community service at the dog shelter cleaning the cages! Thank you to those who turned him in. He is disgusting.

Is this guy still working, as a firefighter? If so, I don't think I want him to help me. He is a sad person with a big problem. Does anyone know if he is still a firefighter? He would not help out anyone with pets, that for sure in case of a fire. Makes you wonder if he would care about anyone, but himself.

Why is this man getting a two year deal to sesrve out his time? He is not fit to "serve and protect" the citizens of Fire Station 27 at 7560 Smoky Row Rd., where he is assigned! Im not sure I would trust him

To me, this is much worse than what Michael Vick did. Vick was engaged in an illegal enterprise and broke more laws, but at least there's a reason for his cruelty. This firefighter killed his dogs for no good reason and then thought highly enough of his actions to brag about it. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that this guy is serial rapist or something. What a creep.

He is a bad person. Period.

But, I am so impressed on those who did the right thing and reported him to the proper authority. It must have been hard for them, but their actions deserve a high five. I would like to know who they are, so I could send a good job note to them. Columbus, needs more people like them.

I agree, I like in the area, and this is my station. I am scared he may have to help us someday. I don't think I have any confidence that he will help, anyone or anything.

What is with the two year thing? Sad, Sad, Sad. He will never learn his lesson. He is a threat to Society.

I am scared, that we have no fire protection. I am very nervous.

It sickens me that someone who is supposed to care about living beings can brutally murder two of them. I was initially bothered that he gets to do his jail time in 10-day stints over two years but I'm glad that it will take him this long to serve his sentence. I hope he is miserable and stays that way. I also hope he learned to respect his fellow creatures regardless of how many legs they use to walk!

"Santuomo will be permitted to serve his jail time in 10-day stints over a two-year period?".....Ludicrous... 90 days consecutive (or more) should be more of a punishment.
"Santuomo laid down a plastic sheet in his basement and tied the dogs to a pipe, partially suspending their bodies. He shot them multiple times, then dumped their carcasses in a trash bin.."
"He later bragged about killing his pets to fellow firefighters, and he showed no remorse, even joking about it,"
Where is the psych evaluation? This person needs serious mental help.

This guy is disgusting. He had many options but chose to kill his pets to save a buck. I hope he had a miserable cruise! Also, he doesn't deserve to wear the uniform of a firefighter. A big thank you to his coworkers for turning him in.

This is a criminal and brutal act committed by a person who, by standards of his profession, should be a humane. The fact that he can serve his time in 10 day 'stints' is appaling and a $150.00 fine~~~~a pittance for two animals that, i am sure, gave him all of their love and trust. I WOULD NOT TRUST HIM TO SAVE ME FROM A BURNING HOUSE!

Too bad we can't tie him up and shoot him. This sentence is too lienient. He should be made to serve his sentence all at one time, and Lord knows 90 days is not enough. I just pray that the firefighters board realizes what kind of person they have working for them and fires him.

Some one should do to him what he did to those two poor defenseless dogs. A man (or woman) who has such little regard for life should not be in a position that makes him responsible for the safetly of others. What would happen if he went on a call to a burning home and there were no humans there at the time but pets were trapped. Would he even bother? This man is a sick, sick individual.

Hey, if he had not 'bragged', who would know? shoot your pet in your basement. what happens in the basement, stays in the basement. Maybe next time your taking care of business, you'll keep your mouth shut! Who has'nt taken care of a few lose ends before? lose lips, sink ships, bud.

Shamansky's actions are reprehensible and disturbing. But as disgusting as they are, how does his sentence compare to Donte Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns who was convicted of manslaughter this past month and was sentenced to 90 days in jail in addition to settling with victim's family, house arrest, and probation? 30 days for killing animals vs 90 days for taking a human life? thoughts anyone?
