That is no excuse, I hope he is fired and there will be a special place in hell for him. He should be finded ten thousand more and never be able to have a gun or animal again. His lawyer is a heartless piece of s*** for being able to defend him.

We salute Fire Chief Ned Pettus in his stand to have firefighter David Santuomo fired for behavior unfitting the department in the wanton killing of his dogs. A person such as Mr. Santuomo has disgraced your fire service. It is appalling that a firefighter in a position of public trust and respect would commit such an uncaring act and show such disrespect for his department and fellow firefighters.
The public holds firefighters to certain standards and David Santuomo does not meet those expectations. He should be dismissed immediately.

For the record, our son is a firefighter and serves his department with respect and honor.

Firing him is purely a political move to placate all the foaming mouth animal rights people. What he did was distasteful, but he was convicted of a misdemeanor, for which he cannot lose his position.

He will get his job back, with back pay, but the Chief will placate the nutty animal rights people who are harrassing him. If the chief bows to pressure to make a decision that he knows will be reversed, he is not much of a leader.

This man is a disgrace to his uniform and should be fired. There are many people who need jobs and have compassion for helpless lives. He is no better than Michael Vic and should lose his job. We do not need firefighters who have no moral compass.

I hope he gets fired. He has no business serving the public. He has poor judgment, lacks compassion, and has the problem solving skills of a flea

Loving animals and living in the state of Ohio. I wrote many letters about this beast who shot his dogs! I am waiting for verification that this monster is truly fired.
Remember, this is how most serial killers start, by abusing, killing animals. Would you want him to come to your home? I have seen so many wonderful firefighters, who take there precious time to do CPR on a family pet. These are the people I want to protect my property. I say the punishment should be the same for him. He should be hung from a pipe in the cellar and shot! More than once in the head! If this seems harsh to you than, perhaps you have never loved an animal deeply. They are near helpless creatures,True loving beings. This creep, who has been referred to as a man, is no Man. He is a disgrace to his, uniform, his state, his city (which is our capital) and, the human race! Only man kills for the sake of killing. The other creatures kill to protect their young or for food! What does this incident say of our capital? He must get the most punishment that the law allows. Better still, put him in jail with the inmates, who use their time to connect with dogs, teach them and bond with them, so that the dogs will be adopted. Ohio has such programs. I was proud of Ohio! Put the creep in with those who have found out what loving and bonding is about. Let those who have worked in the prison programs get at David. Let us see what happens to him then. I am angry no, that is not the correct word, furious is more like it.
