If you go to this all-inclusive county link you will see what a joke the entire so-called stimulus plan has been for Ohio. The few counties currently showing funds apparently are using them for welfare programs. I am looking forward to the "stimulus" results that will occur from that. Ohio must be proud of the support given to "change you can believe in." It is working well here.

Maybe the Dispatch should send a copy of this to John Boehner, so he'll know where the jobs are.

Spending money on infrastructure is good if it is for what is needed for all as opposed to wanted by some.

Just more Federal RED TAPE in play. Promise the world and give a spoonful of dirt....I'm sure it's something like this: They had to crear a "department" to oversee the projects (funding - i.e. HIRE more government staffing) That staffing had to hire companies to REVIEW the projects because the ones overseeing them (hired to do so) don't have any degrees in anything) so they'll probably subcontract the job....By the time the money GETS to Columbus, it'll mostly have been SPENT on ADMINISTERING and SUPERVISING how it IS to be spent...There won't be much left to fix anything !!! JUST wait until HEALTH CARE is run by those bums !!!!

Well so far no one has suggested having "those bums" run health care, just competitive health care INSURANCE. There's a big difference.

Socialist National Health Care is what we are headed for. It is what Clinton wanted, both of them, and Obama will be hearing it in his ear from his Secretary of State often. When he figures out what he is doing, that will be on the front burner. Will it really be any different from the Health Card that welfare recipients and illegal aliens have now? The Hospital ER`s will be overflowing more so than they are now. Aspirin will still cost $25 each and the level of treatment will suffer.

The only stimulus spending ODOT has made is the bogus highway signs they spent thousands on to promote this misguided venture. The Dispatch needs a story on how much money was spent to buy and erect these signs.

If Columbus just received $1.7 million to put police on the streets, then why is Coleman threatening to cut the police force if we don't go with an income tax increase?

First, Ghost, you're wrong. That's not even close to what Clinton was after - she was working with the private health care and insurance industry in designing her plan. That’s why the left was so angry at her. Under socialized medicine the docs and hospitals would work for the government. I'm no Clinton fan and no Clinton defender, but at least get your facts right.

Second, Obama has been very upfront about what he wants. He’s working with the private groups, industries and organizations involved. He’s not headed for national health care, and not even a single-payer insurance system. It’s a compromise, and apparently pretty neutral since both sides (right and left) resent it. So you’re way off base.

Third, that “socialist” tag you throw around just labels your argument right-wing scare talk rather than a discussion of health care possibilities.

I might add that if you really are afraid of ending up with actual socialized medicine you might think out where this is headed and start supporting the administration’s program. It’s likely the only compromise you’re going to get.

If the system stays broken like it is, if companies keep upping the cost or dropping health care benefits, if insurers keep refusing to cover preconditions, if more folks keep losing their jobs and their ability to afford health care for their families, you’ll get what you fear. When every-day folks (the 80 or 90 percent of us who have to juggle our costs) see their wives, husbands, parents and kids going without the care they need, see them suffering or letting needed treatments slide, or dying early because they can’t afford good ongoing preventive care or adequate treatment for long-term health issues, most will be DEMANDING nationalized medicine – the whole thing – the real thing. An insurance compromise will be off the table.

But first do your own reading and stop buying the bag of horse pucky the health care lobby is selling through right-wing talk shows. There’s a lot of non-political info out there that might open your eyes a bit. Try this link for a good starting point: http://www.commonwealthfund.org/
