I love how they use "SUV" as though it is somehow worse than a car or a pickup truck. In today's politicly correct enviornment "SUV" carries a stigma that other vehicles do not or maybe its the myth they are considered more dangerous and more evironmently unfriendly. Fact is all vehicles are dangerous when driven by inexperienced drivers. Move the driving age to 17 and increase the amount of training required and that might solve some of these problems. Also if you really want make the roads safer ask the people at the licence bureau about the foreigners and their lack of ability to pass the tests. I was told of some that have taken the test as many as 8-10 times and finally passed legally but the officer administering the test said he didn't want to be in the same zip code when these people are out driving.

Chan say send her to Army. After boot camp, send her to Afghanistan to drive a tank. With those driving skills she should be able to win the war in about 6 months.

Why was this 12 year old not at WORK? This should be a lesson to you welfare bums out there. Get a job, or get hit with an SUV. These kids need to know the value of WORK and they need to get JOBS!

Almost kill a kid,$396 fine. If the kid dies, does she get two weeks in prison and a $500 fine? I suppose we need to leave her enough money to repair her SUV, right? So she can do it again, next time she gets tanked? Maybe she can take out a whole family next time....(3 months and a $1000 fine, I suppose??)

The difference between my mistakes and your sisters are mine did not put someone in the hospital. I CAN honestly say I have not driven under the influence of alcohol, texted or used the cellphone while driving. There is nothing so important that it supersedes my responsibility to be an attentive and careful driver. To excuse your bad driving habits by saying 'everybody does it' is asinine and childish. GROW UP! Everybody does not do it! Accidents do indeed happen but the one your sister had was avoidable. I expect the family of the injured girl is going to come after your sister for a lot of money. She has no one but herself to blame.

I agree with Let them alone. The Older Sister is just looking out for her sister as anyone of us would probably try to do.
She is right accidents do happen things do distract people ... that is why they are called an accident. Now when you go on talking about drinking and driving that is no accident that is a choice and people choose to drink and drive. As for myself I have never drank and drove a car before in my life. There was one time I had a half a glass of wine ... I waited 3 hours and I had eaten dinner before I left. So you are wrong in saying that.

And a very stupid one, that some states have OUTLAWED because it is so distracting (like reading a book) that it can/will kill. Leave the damn phone alone and DRIVE!! You too big sister...

Hello, just like you said it is not a LAW in all cities and states. But drinking and driving is. I never said that it was ok to drive and text at the same time. I have a phone and I choose not to text or read text while driving. I sometimes read text at a stop sign or red light ... but never while driving. My law. Drinking and driving while having your children in the car is just plain stupid and it was her choice to make that stupid decision. Just like it would be when someone causes an accident while texting and driving at the same time.

If you are sitting at a stop sign with your car running, and a cop has a reason to suspect, and proves you are drunk, you get a DUI. What am I saying you ask? When you are sitting in your car, in the process of going from point A to point B, you are in fact DRIVING....ask your dad! And I guess you are one of those people that we all wait behind, at stop signs and when the light turns green, until you finish reading your text, because you somehow believe you are not in the act of driving??

You are just being crazy ... I can see when a light changes and I can see if a car pulls up behind me. I am not stupid. I didn't say I send text I just look at them. You never know if there is some emergency. If it was then I would pull over and call them. If not I would continue until I got to where I am going then I would get back with them. As for ask my dad ... I wish I could! A** hole!

OUTLAWED in certain areas. And I never said it didn't distract WHILE driving. When you pick up a cup to take a drink (Non alcohol) while driving ... do you continue to look at the road while drinking. If you don't know for sure watch the next time you do. Not only to you look when taking a drink you look when you set your drink back in the holder.(Which is made in cars ... so not against the law to do) So is that going to banned to. It takes no longer to look at your phone to see who may be calling than it does to take a drink. My Opinion ... don't like ... don't care.
