What has really happened is We The People aren't going to stand for using our hard-earned tax dollars for nonsense like this! Our kids are being re-educated on what it means to be American, and that means not being controlled by special interest tobacco control. We are educating them once again that this is exactly how Adolph Hitler began his third reich. We The People are waking up, so perhaps Shelley Kiser could take a hint and go and get a real job! I my child begins to smoke so be it. Maybe my child will end up on the list of the world's oldest people some day, ALL of whom are or were, smokers!

I have a real problem with STIMULUS MONEY, money that my great grandchildren will have to PAY BACK, being used to badger smokers to quit smoking. Does anyone else? What reall permanent jobs is this creating? This is money to modify behaviors. Is that really what our government is supposed to do? Modify how we act, what we do? What behavior will they modify next? How many children we want to have?

Interesting that Shelly Kiser with the American Lung Association said smoking rates have stalled. If you read all her past quotes in newspapers you'll see that all she talks about with the smoking ban is how it's forced people to quit smoking and reduce the rates, which is NOT what the ban "supposedly" was supposed to do, remember? The real reasons for the ban are to force people to quit smoking, to close as many bars as possible (query "alcohol" on the ACS' website to find over 4,700 hits) and to make the partners of big pHARMa and big pHARMa even richer. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation gave $2.87 million dollars in "grants" for tobacco control in Ohio. They essentially funded the push for the smoking ban. RWJF is the "non" profit of Johnson & Johnson. They own 42,343,491 shares of J&J stock. Johnson & Johnson has the market cornered (can anyone say Sherman Act?) on big pHARMa's own nicotine. Kiser's association received money from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, they shared $99 million with the ACS and AHA. Their foundation produced a publication with J&J's products listed in it, with funding provided by RWJF. The ACS sold their logo to be used on the packaging. In the meantime, the patches have a 98.4% failure rate while the gum has addicted its users to the gum instead of the cigarettes they traded away. Problem is, the users are experiencing high blood pressure, skin lesions, uncontrollable diabetes and an addiction so strong that they've chewed the gum for years. Go to askapatient dot com and look up Nicorette. Query Jessica Simpson and Jay Leno plus Nicorette to see how she's addicted even though she's never smoked a day in her life.

This is political payback for big pHARMa's political contributions. What will these counselors advice? Certainly not to go cold turkey, which study after study AND an ACS publication show is the most successful way to quit. They'll push the patches, gum and drugs.

Stimulus money? This is an outright sin. The state of Ohio should refuse this money. Tell the Feds we don't want our great grandchildren paying all their lives to force people to change their behaviors. This is just the beginning, folks. If you can't see it now, you will when it impacts a behavior YOU will be hounded to change.

Bars and restaurants used to hire people between jobs. Now due to the smoking ban shutting them down or forcing them to lay people off, there are no jobs for people to buffer the time between jobs! This smoking ban has killed an industry. Some of these posters who see only hatred toward smokers that they did not have to be around in the first place are complicit. If they don't like free will they can move to Siberia!

Today America is still under attack, but not only by unknown jihads flying planes into buildings or blowing themselves up along with innocents in buildings, shopping centers and trains, etc., but more so by the American media, Tobacco Control and the pharmaceutical industry, and our lackey government under their control. I’ve seen this world go bonkers over the years. Freedom is nothing like it used to be. Every time something happens, a law is passed. There is nothing called personal responsibility anymore. If a kid drowns in a pool, it’s the pool’s fault. If an adult gets cancer, it’s a smoker’s fault. If someone is overweight, it’s McDonald’s fault. Special interest has jumped into the fray too many times with the “answer”, their drugs, to “save” us from ourselves. Common sense isn’t good enough anymore, the incompetent politicians have seen to it.

"Tobacco use by high-school students rose in 2008 for the first time in eight years, which Kiser attributes to the lack of funding for anti-smoking initiatives."

"Lack of funding for anti-smoking initiatives"?$1.37 million in stimulus funds that will be added to the debt my kids will still be paying when they have grandkids! Well I've got news for these idiots spending our tax money: My kids do NOT need an anti-smoking initiative......THEY'VE GOT ME!!!

I believe the anti-smoking initatives that were employed up until about 15 years ago were referred to as an a**-whipping. Now, that method is turned over to child's services, increasing taxpayer dependence. Then more tax-dollars are needed to employ a new method to prevent kids from smoking.

Political-correctness and being super-golly-gee-whiz nice in this everyone gets a trophy society has a pricetag. And our grandkids will be footing that bill.

Somewhere between the law and idiocy comes common sense, and common sense dictates if you continue to allow people to slap you in the face, stab you in the back and use your sets of laws to only reach their ultimate goal of destroying you, your set of laws, your country, your future and your beliefs, then it becomes a case of sheer dumbass stupidity. Don't ever underestimate the stupidity of most Americans. The media and tobacco control can and are convincing lots of folks that to stand up and speak out against the threats to freedom is the same as being an anti-American. The liberals’ primary goal is total enslavement of the people to the whims, wants and desires of the nanny statist government. That's why business owners continue to fight for their rights.

This Kiser woman must be smoking something. In 2007/2008/2009 these social progressive orgs.were at their pinnacle of funding from subversives likethe RWJF to undermine Freedom in America. If B.S. was $ Bills this woman could pay of Ohio's Budget deficit. One that she and her kind contributed to to the tune of $700 Million Dollars and 10,000 lay offs. Quit whinni9ng and go to Venezuella where you ideas are applauded.

Outstanding points. You missed one. If someone slams their finger in the door, it's the door's fault. Government regulation at taxpayer-expense is required to prevent it from happening again.

That stimulus money is going to go to the commodities and fuel we need because everything is going to skyrocket in price.

Coffee and cotton
Wheat and corn
Cattle , chicken and hog feed
Anything that is produced in the agriculture crop farming, Wall Street hedge funds are driving commodities up in price like they did oil, today oil is not a money maker because of the economy.

Gasoline and diesel prices are going to go sky high, meaning less oil bought through the stock markets.

Gasoline prices in my hometown yesterday 266.9 today 290.9 and diesel prices 328.9 to 399.9 overnight, the moment president Obama mentioned he was closing all loopholes on oil and gas companies’ gasoline and diesel prices the next day skyrocket.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. And it's not only wrong to spend stimulus money on something that doesn't create jobs, it's also not going to work. Does anyone really think smokers don't know the dangers of smoking; and somehow these education efforts will do a darn thing but waste money? In fact, they could have the opposite effect...people will rebel against the perceived "control" efforts being inflicted on them, like a kid rebels against his parents if the parents try too hard to control every little thing.

Stop wasting money and give it back to the taxpayers!!!
