Were you a writer for one of the Gannett papers up there?
I once heard Dennis Shreefer on the radio in Lima. Dennis Shreefer used to be a news anchor at Channel 4 back in the day, as well as in other mid-sized markets. I always wondered if they could afford to pay you decent money in a small market like that for work in the media.
Not to be nosy, just curious.
No, actually Gannett was our main competitor. I did do some free-lance work for one (Mansfield News Journal) after leaving the paper I was at.

Again no, they cannot afford to pay a decent wage. Especially now with advertising revenues, and subscribers, both dramatically shrinking.

You're not a professional motivational speaker by any chance? If not, you sure do a good job of it on an amateur basis.
You have given me some great food for thought. Thanks. I do think there may be a story there worth telling. I also have thought of writing about my experiences with cancer, but there is no reason it cannot all be tied together. After all, one did lead to the other.
I am a friend trying to get you to do what you may well have been born to do.

Your story worked on me!

My suggestion to you is....quit thinking & start writing.

after you pop your cherry with the first book, the following ones will be much easier.

start making notes now.

Thank you, and so far so good. I recently had my 8-month checkup following surgery and I remain cancer-free. However, I still have a long way to go to be considered a survivor (5 years).

You, Tag, and even Bob brought a tear to my eye. I know Tag, you don't get it. Go, Mark, Go! We'll support you and in between beat you up, keeping you grounded. Win/win situation.

Half a spark. That's not to say I couldn't make fun of him behind his back. Just not directly while conversing him. Even I'm not that cruel.

Seriously, you have to hope he stays well.

You're a survivor if you have the diagnosis and you're still alive.

Remission is what you get at the 5 year mark.

Hope you pass that 5 year mark and become a "post cancer" patient.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Sagittarius

You're in the mood to spend today, especially on the spur of the moment. Be careful if you can't afford to make any impulse purchases, because a lack of cash won't stop you! If you do decide to splash out on something, you may be disappointed when you get it home and you might even decide to take it back.
