Sediment samples in the lab of Richard Norris obtained by the Ocean Drilling Program reveal the mark of "hyperthermals," warming events lasting thousands of years that changed the composition of the sediment and its color.

Bypass the Wattsup editorializing and go straight to the UCSD study:
http://ucsdnews.ucsd.edu/newsrel/science/03-1... # "Norris noted that the hyperthermals provide historical perspective on what Earth will experience as it continues to warm from widespread use of fossil fuels, which has increased carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere nearly 50 percent since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. “In 100 to 300 years, we could produce a signal on Earth that takes tens of thousands of years to equilibrate, judging from the geologic record,” he said. |

Hyperthermals, extra thick thermal underwear.

Hyperthermals: greenhouse warming episodes, like the one we are causing now.

According to the UCSD news release that the rise in CO2 is a natural event and one that has happened many times in the past tracks with the concept that the rise in CO2 is a result and not a cause of global warming. One the earth has recovered from numerous times in the past and given the past track record will again.
Of course Northie must be quite upset because this points out the cause is a natural and not a man made one. But this to tracks with past examples over the pseudo crisis where later research proved that man wasn't the cause. Of course now would be a great time for Northie to bone up on the subject of global ice age. After all in a decade or so it will be all the rage and those who refuse to believe in it will be called deniers. |
