More fun to report on weather front.
This time a classical frontal storm in the rather depressed Jet stream due to another chug of climate mode#3 operating in the asia pacific hot pool.
In this case a normal travelling frontal storm with warm water source (azores) and cold destination (UK). This one was NOT a flooding marbe as it was travelling but carried a lot of H2O and rained a lot over the drought stricken UK during the download festival (lots of mud monsters).
The result was a trailing occlusion following the storm centre as it drifted into the north sea which passed over central Wales. The result was ~12cm of oreographic rainfall in the Plynlymon region and flash floods along the Dyfi and Rheidol valleys near Aberystwyth. The result was a flash flood able to lift slabs of asphalt to 6m long intact and dump them onto underlying features (such as giant plastic wheelie bins etc. Lots of floating caravans, general chaos etc typical of flach floods.
This was apparently one of the unusual "sheep floods" typical of the turn of the last century (ie. a flood with sheep in it). and was part of the classical "Llif Y Myfyrwyr" of thre Aerystwyth region which the locals complain bitterly about.
For the record the "Llif Y myfyrwyr" is a local weather phenomeno which coincides with the arrival of the student intake at Aberystwyth university and resuults in average temperatures from their arrival time until usually late may with average temperatures similar to the sea surface and generally dull cloudy somewhat windy and raining usually about 2 or 3 days a week, resulting in cold damp housing for the duration.
This is however very good news for overwintering starlings with the area now a prime winter starling roost on the dacaying and rusting remnants of the pier,(then and now a plastic pop nightspot for the revelling {usually politics, ecomnomics & social studies} students).
Flooding marble proper will turn up when mode#3 finally gets its ass in gear and goes global. Likely to see the first examples in Temperate rainbelt China, Korea and japan.

Dear Adrian Godsafe, I think it's time for you to employ a spell check, because I haven' a clue what a "flooding marbe" is.
Marble?
I really don't believe that the north sea "passed over central Wales."
"flach floods."
"ecomnomics" and numerous other unsightly typos.
This fun & games with typos is due to usage of the local library machines which are not all sweetness & light.

That one was written on amachine which features an excellent resolution but sadly has a keyboard that has seen better days, doubles some letters & leaves others blank, and if you do spot the typos on the high res gamers setup the result is the cursor disappearing for the duration when you position it to recover the text.

The other problem as I find regularly is that the correction becomes a typo thanks to interference from whatever game was on the machine before I dropped in.

This one is a reply from a different machine with low res games and a habit of not talking to the gamers. As you can see, the result is far easier to read as a result of the comments panel being 4 times the size of the panel on the games central setup which is the one usually free.

I will be very glad indeed when I finally get to my preferred destination and can use a machine that is familiar and unbroken. This set from Warwickshire look good but appears to have destroyed the careers of several people making e-applications for employment.

Flooding marble
The low pressure centre passed into the north sea leaving a trailing front to pass over central wales.

Flash floods (in wales there are also such things as "fach floods").

Economics (I have also encountered a number of other mostly left wing political idiots {In Aberystwyth, and elewhere} that describe themselves as economists. The most prominent of the followers of Karl Marx describing themselves as economists left me in the position of selling my house and emigrating from the country. That person was none other than Gordon Brown.
If you do not like the typos consider that the labour party have a similar problem in distinguishing communists from ecomnomists, and their computer keyboards are not worn out.

Have a nice day: Ag

pps.
I have never had a complaint about typos from a follower of the labour party (UK). The setup is still according to labour party doctrine of Blair/Brown years here. The machine I am currently typing on may be newer than the electoral takeover by the coalition.

Also discovering the hard way that the wi fi over here resembles a snowy TV set. One typo above was inserted after posting!.

Note label ecomnomist is actually "economist", but as usual labour party's finest probably would not notice.(!)

Yep.

Gordon missed my dot on the map but anihilated 2 UK tourists on Portugal W. coast.

Still in Climate mode#3 and is now wrapping around so for late July + August weather here not so bad. Able to see sample of early Aug weather via Olympics on NBC (apparently popular over there).

Thanks to wraparound of mode#3 Europe weather now hot & dry & polar hood region now esconced over pole. Jet stream + rainbelt now extending over N. Scotland + Scandinavia.

Mode#3 hot pool now centred over Phillippines (lots of H2O), and monsoonal front divide running over SE. China, Koreas,+ Japan. N.Korea with yet another major flood + Famine & about to go gaga (nothing new there). Possibility of V. large typhoon in Philippine sea over this or next month (large being 150-200 Mph).

Weak El Nino likely around December this year.

Have a nice day: Ag

ps. Unrelated oceanic heat phenomenon: Havre seamount apparently was the source of a large raft of white pumice covering an area approx similar to Belgium in S. Kermadec islands. No change to climate as erupted through water and disolving bulk of magmatic gas in the ocean. Will be of immediate science interest as result of volcano being a hump in the depths of S. Kermadec arc prior to current event and now likely with large hole in it that was not there a few months ago when NZ gets arount to a new sonar survey.
Keywords; volcanic eruption: Pumice Raft: Havre; happy hunting.

Not really.

Republicans currently in a large storm of their own making.

May also now get odd squall lines from Gulf of Mexico & outflow from developing hurricane arriving. New hurricane currently targeting Jamaica, may recurve @ any point.

Had a quick ramble through.

New storm is currently Tropical storm Isaac.

Apparenly not going to be bled out on the altar that one.

Keep wtching that space as storm is currently in the "Gilbert" zone, but a lot smaller and less developed.

Time to wander off:

Let the fun begin. We now have the digital patsy followed by the Less than a Box of Rocks along with the dirtling spewing useless babble with hate. This should make an interesting topic.

Now the fun bit.

Mode#3 appears to weaken hurricanes & jog them NE.

1st jog took Isaac out of the gilbert zone (good for mexico by the way), 2nd Jog + storm chasing heat now has it stalled as a cat 1 over New Orleans.

Item of note here is that Tropical storms are real dumpers, with result that New Orleans is likely to now flood from the rainfall totals alone.

Recurve track could be anywhere in target from direct N. then NE track... through to NE curve ball via inland Appalachians... through to a jog along the gulf of Mexico coast ending up finally in Tampa (just in time for GOP closing ceremony).

Will be watching that space.

At least deep south will no longer be fried, this should break the drought.

Mode#3 will be interesting, most storms will be about 1 or 2 categories down and constantly taking NE side of the spaghettigram in sudden jogs. Bulk are likely to be in the Atlantic. Most dangerous ones would be sudden wind ups already trecking NE when formed in Gulf of Mexico.

Oops: almost forgot. Fujiwara effect got mentioned with Tembin & Bolaven (Tembin dropped off radar after pulling back from Hong Kong, Bolaven said hi to North Korea; {Not sure of reply from NK yet}).

Have a nice day: Ag

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Virgo

You have a very high opinion of a certain person today, believing that they can do no wrong. But how realistic are you being? It looks as though you're viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, which is fine if it's only a temporary state but quite another matter if you're deliberately ignoring problems and pretending that they don't exist.
