Five years ago, I attended my Dad's funeral. He had died of a massive heart attack at the age of 54. My older brother and sister had already been diagnosed with Diabetes, my brother being insulin dependent and having lost both feet to the disease. My Mom, and both siblings are on medication for high blood pressure, cholesterol lowering drugs and various other meds for arthritis, gout, and Diabetes. At that time, I was 25 years old, 5'4" tall, nearly 200 pounds and knew my body condition and my family history was my death sentence.

At that time I decided to change my diet. I would eat only when I was hungry and choose a variety of healthy foods when I did eat. Within a few weeks, my natural meal schedule had settled into a pattern where I was eating one meal per day, at about 7pm in the evening. Bedtime was 10pm and my one hour daily workout was done first thing in the morning. I have continued this eating/workout schedule for 5 years, now. I lost 73 pounds in the first year and have easily maintained my weight at a lean and muscular, 125 pounds, ever since. My energy is unstoppable, I sleep great at night, I don't feel sluggish or sleepy in the afternoons, I have no hunger or cravings because I can eat what I want to eat when dinnertime comes. Best of all, I have low blood pressure, great cholesterol numbers, a very strong heart beat and absolutely no sign of the Diabetes, Gout or Heart Disease that runs in my family. My mind is clear, I can focus on life rather than spending the whole day thinking and planning my next mini meal and doing the math to make sure that I don't go over a calorie limit while I'm eating 5 or 6 times a day.
