As a parent this concerns me about the culture of a college. I know this is not what Hartwick College has been like in the past.
Who is at the helm there? Has the college president addressed this issue? He or she needs to speak with the parents of the students and assure them there children will be safe.

Let's not rush to judgement on any of this. You don't hear the bad stuff coming out of SUNY Oneonta, so let's not pick on Hartwick.
I would say to Jenny, that yeah someone from the Hartwick administration should step up make a statement. Most likely should be done by the president.

I have seen this story twice today on local news stations. It must be serious enough.
What I am not clear on is why the college isn't making any statements. I understand that they may have nothing to do with this at all, but not coming forward with a statement puts them in a suspicious place.
Maybe that's just me, but if you don't have anything to hide then speak up.

Hartwick has not made a statement I don't believe but they did everything correctly. The fraternity is no longer recognized by the school, all but three students had to move out. One student was expelled and several others suspended.
The president is useless and lazy, that is why she hasn't made a statement.
This kid is just playing the race card in hopes of getting a fat check. It says he was made to dress like pimp... everyone pledging had to do it. It is not like they just singled out that kid.

I have to say I am disgusted with the Hartwick Lacrosse Team - my son was just recently attacked and beaten by 5-6 Hartwick Lacrosse players. He was attacked from behind, not even able to defend himself and he was seriously injured and needed surgery. He is both physically and emotionally injured. Not only have the police been a huge disappointment, but so has the school. I have left numerous messages with the Lacrosse Coach as well as the President. Both have yet to return my phone calls. I was told by the officer in charge of my son's case that the coach never returned his calls either. I informed the police of one of the names of the kids that beat my son - only to be told by them that they spoke with him and he told them he "did not beat my son". None of the other players are stepping up and giving names or bearing witness to this horrible beating. My big fear is that these kids are out of control, using alcohol and cocaine and feeling like they can get away with bullying and beating innocent people. My son is lucky enough not to have brain damage since he was beaten in the head. What about the next kid that gets beat? When I first got to the police station to file a complaint and press chargers - the first thing the officer said to me was "Oh this happens here all the time". I guess they don't know how to clean up this mess and they allow these animals to get away with this behavior - that's why it happens all the time. Neither the police or the college even take the time to look at how out of control these kids have gotten nor do they even try to put a stop to it. The Lacrosse Players, Hartwick College and the Police Department should all be ashamed of themselves.
