The complaint that led to the trial said Wright's behavior went against the Masonic constitution because he "violated the sanctity of his marriage" and "deserted her due to his homosexuality." I just have to wonder, and ask, would they feel the same if he left his wife for another woman?

Interestingly enough...the original Mason cult (actual stone masons who worked deep in quarries) was persecuted by the early Church because of the occult rituals that they performed. One of the slurs used against them was that they were homosexual and their “rites” included homosexual acts among members.

It's the fact that this person committed adultery. That's a serious sin for ANY person.

Regardless of the offense, the Masons have a right to choose who is a member of their organization. It's no persons business except a Mason. They can throw him out for having hair on his ears and it's no business of anybody else.

Too many people forget we have a RIGHT to association, whihc means you have a RIGHT to form private clubs and include and exclude whomever you wish for whatever reason you wish. If you don't like a private organizations's beliefs and practices, then don't join.

I happen to know John very well and he did not commit adultery. And in Kentucky we have enough masons that hate gays enough to try and get them out of the frat. They even tried passing a clause stating that no gays would be allowed to enter the frat after John came out to his lodge. The trial was a total crapshoot they didnt want to hear him out they just wanted him out. The members attending actually clapped when the verdict was handed down it was disgusting.

I think the OP's point was this Lodge voted John out because of his sexual orientation. If he had had an affair with a woman, I doubt they would have taken any action. Considering the Mason reason for being is "charitable work within a local or wider community, moral uprightness (in most cases requiring a belief in a supreme being) as well as the development and maintenance of fraternal friendship, as James Anderson's Constitutions originally urged amongst brethren" (from the wiki) it seems a pity that fraternity that thrived during the Age of Enlightenment would take such a narrow view of "morality" to throw out an upstanding member who happened to change sexual orientation as an adult.

The Masons, one of the potential guardians of the Grail. Traceable all the way back to the Knights Templar. They hold and control more influence on our government than any elected member. Their signs and symbols are all over Washington, and our money. So they did not want a gay in the organization? So they tossed him out. Good for them. The US military will be following suit in a short time.

Gays seem to expect more rights than the general population. I don't force my belief on them (I don't like nor approve of their lifestyle) & they are not going to be allowed to force their life style on me. Many have been kicked out or not allowed in. Gays are no better. They would not fit into the Masons. I can't see someone further embarrassing their family by continuing on with this charade.

the person who referred to masons as adult cub scouts should not make comments about an organization they have no idea about. i think it is childish for a person to make fun of an organization because of the looks of a hat or anything else. and if i you want to be gay and accepted for your own club or organization and dont deal with straight people, associate with people who dont have a problem with it and there will be no problem.
