A "church" in Canton (NC), The Amazing Grace Baptist Church, truly "amazing", will celebrate Halloween by burning Bibles that aren't the King James Version, as well as music and books and anything else Pastor Marc Grizzard says is a "satanic influence". That He says.
He will include authors such as Rick Warren and Billy Graham because He says they have occasionally used Bibles other than the KJ, which is the sole biblical source He considers infallible. According to the church's web site,(Heaven's link.com ??) members will also burn "Satan's music such as country, rap, rock, pop, heavy metal, western, soft and easy, Southern gospel, contemporary Christian, jazz, soul and oldies." During the book burning, barbecued chicken, fried chicken and "all the sides" will be served. There is also a new web site, Conservapedia, founded by Andrew Schlafly, that will post a "conservative Bible" that will correct the Bible by creating a new translation based upon 10 principles, including: concision; an emphasis on "free market parables" and the exclusion of "liberal passages" he says were inserted into the original text. I guess he's seen the 'original text'. Schlafly says that his site is a counter to the "liberal" Wikipedia. I hope Schiafly knows that Wikipedia is not considered a valid reference site by serious researchers so by creating a counter to it does that mean his falls into the same realm? I guess the folks at AGBC don't realize that they aren't the first to try an clean up the collective moral environment. The Spanish Inquisitors, the Nazis, the KKK and I'm sure other "religious organizations" have done the same. Even though it really has nothing to do with the finished product I like to know if the 'Enlightened' realize that King James was a very open bi-sexual? And that the witting project that produced the Bible that carries his name was written for as much political as it was religious reasons. What century are we living in? "Lord, have mercy". |
