I wonder when GM and the rest of the clowns in charge of producing new cars is going to realize that you need to stop baiting customers with something you won't produce? Over and over again GM makes these fabulous cars for shows, such as this 2009 Riviera and then only uses a headlight bezel or some small design feature to "emphasize" how tech savy or forward thinking their designers are. I think it is time for auto maufactuers to stop playing and get serious.

You see where playing gets you?

These show cars are someones personals fantasies cars that you spend millions of dollars building and then you kick your customers right between the legs and announce you are not going to build them.

Maybe if you start fantasizing about digging ditches or flipping burgers, there might be more incentive to build something people can actually buy.
Who would want to buy a car from you?

Then you have the balls to come out with cars to compete with the imports.
After all these years you haven't even come close!

I am sure you are all absolutely sure that all these make believe cars are going to keep people interested in what you might do next, but times, they are a changing.
Try intoducing fabulous cars that you will actually sell to the public.

By the way, I would venture to bet that the 2009 Riviera would sell out quite rapidly even if you toned it down a bit!

The Riv might look nice but then you drive it off the lot and the bullshit starts...gee why is that trouble light on? Why is the paint peeling? Why is my heater so noisey? Why have my wipers stopped 1/2 way up my windsheild? Why is the engine so noisey? Why won't my gas door stay closed? The dealer has the answer to all your questions.... Why don't you buy another one?

Hey Toyota guy... stop living in the 70's!!! You are part of the reason American car manufacturers are having problems. Try looking at the new offerings from GM & Ford. You'll quickly discover how well made they are. I'll put the Cadillacs & Buicks up against any Japanese car made. You simply don't have a clue!!!!

You make a good point but how do GM and Ford overcome the perception that their cars are not as good as those out of Japan. I have only owned GM and Ford products, I’m currently driving a 92 Towncar and it’s a great car but am in the market for a new one. I test drove a Malibu which I love and will most likely be my next car. We even rented one to take on vacation in August. Back to your post though I do believe both of these automakers are now on par with Japanese brands. Too many buyers still think they the import brands are superior.

I went to the Philadelphia auto show this season and found that Ford was actually showing what they were selling. No dream cars here. Just a strong reliable product.
Chevrolet, however showed cars but were unwilling to let potential customers fully check out! The camaro ss was behind tape barriers (was unapproachable) and the Corvette ZR1 was locked up and off limits. Of course they tell you that the Camaro show car had a huge engine in it (ZO6 engine) but won't be selling them this way because of the gas tax! Why show this car anyway?
I really think we would have seen more (dream only cars) had Chevrolet not been in Bankruptcy. I think they had to sell them off!
I do believe that GM is getting better than they were as long as they don't build any more Vegas....or dream boats. I looked back at the original electric Volt they alledge to be introducing. They original car only has the same grille as the 2010 model! The rest is now a converted Malibu. The'll screw up the new Malibu now....They don't learn. PS The Malibu would make a great coupe, add 425 hp 427 and you got a big seller.

I personally can't stand the 09 Riviera concept car. Just like those damn Caddy's.
It would be interesting if Buick took the 95 model and reinvented it without changing so much. I love the 95 and up models. I bought one a few weeks ago and am in love with it. I think it's possessed by a good spirit, lol, like Christine.
Seriously though, if they did something like that and just perfected it, wow! I can't stand the way car's look today.(Well, the new Camaro is pretty awesome)

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Sagittarius

You still prefer to be in a world of your own, in which nothing nasty is happening, but at least you're feeling a little more realistic than you were yesterday. It's a perfect day for visiting somewhere beautiful, peaceful or relaxing, or for going to the cinema or an art gallery. But it will be difficult to get up the energy for any prolonged Christmas shopping.
