This seemingly sane statement is a fools gold designed to scare and point a finger .

The reality is both the US and China are militarizing space same as Russia, UK, France , Japan , India and the rest of the members of the space club .

The USA's separate civilian and military space ops just plainly signifies Washington's massive space budget and much advanced space program compared to Beijing's.

The Wall Street Journal subtly is militarizing the media by using it as a weapon of mass propaganda.

Kinda like the Wall Street Journal is in a 'Occupy the Penatgon' mode.

Quantum teleportation: the name brings Star Trek to mind, although that’s not quite accurate. What quantum teleportation really transmits isn’t people, but rather information (called “qubits”, as an analogue to the classic “bit” that we use to slice up memory in traditional computing). In theory, quantum teleportation is the transmitting of cubits from one position to another without the qubits travelling in the intervening space.

Reliable trasmission of qubits is something that’s necessary for the development of quantum computers. Quantum computers, if they’re possible to build, would in theory be able to take advantage of quantum mechnical algorithms, enabling them to use algorithms that can perform calculations much, much faster than traditional computers.

So ever since quantum teleportation technology was first proposed in the late 1990s, there have been two major avenues of research. The first is being able to transmit information over long distances — right now, the longest distance claimed is about 10 miles by researchers in China

Photos of the new Sunway supercomputer reveal an elaborate water-cooling system that may be a significant advance in the design of the very fastest machines.“Getting this cooling technology correct is very, very difficult,” said Steven Wallach, chief scientist at Convey Computer, a Richardson, Tex., supercomputer firm.“This tells me that this is a serious design. This cooling technology could scale to exaflop. They are in the hunt to win.”

Surprise test sets scene for possible space arms race

WASHINGTON -- The Chinese military used a ground-based missile to hit and destroy one of its aging satellites orbiting more than 500 miles in space last week -- a high-stakes test demonstrating China's ability to target regions of space that are home to US spy satellites and space-based missile defense systems.

The test of anti satellite technology is believed to be the first of its kind in two decades by any nation and raised concerns about the vulnerability of US satellites and a possible arms race in space.

China's action drew sharp protests from other nations with satellite programs -- a predictable response that experts said dramatically illustrates Chinese willingness to face broad international criticism when it comes to space, which Beijing considers a key part of the push to modernize its military and increase its ability to compete in high-tech warfare.

"The US believes China's development and testing of such weapons is inconsistent with the spirit of cooperation that both countries aspire to in the civil space area," National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said yesterday. "We and other countries have expressed our concern regarding this action to the Chinese."

A spokesman at the Chinese Embassy said he had no information about the anti satellite test.

In addition to introducing a renewed military dimension to space, the destruction of the Chinese satellite created a large "debris cloud" that can seriously damage other satellites in nearby orbit, and possibly even spacecraft on their way to the moon or beyond.
