not voting yes because a police officer might cite someone for being on a phone in a parked car? how often would they even bother to do this? how would they defend it as publice safety?
what magistrate would uphold it?

a sorry excuse not to try to nab those who do endager others while driving

Before cell phones, 18 year olds never ran red lights. Right??? This is stupid. Big Brother Democrats need to go away and leave us the hell alone. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my cell phone.

What bunch of dip s***s! Oh well, we get to government we deserve because we vote for these morons. Did you know almost 40% of drivers send text messages while they're driving? Think about that next time you see somebody pass you with a cell phone up on the steering wheel. They might as well be driving drunk. Hang up and drive!

Anyone who doesn't think that cell phone users are a hazard to the road:

a.) doesn't drive.

b.) is too distracted talking on their phone to notice.

Saying this proposal is a factor "Big Brother Democrats" is like saying drunk driving laws are an attempt at violating your right to get hammered and go joy-riding. Its a matter of public safety.

I almost got hit on my way to work yesterday at Airport and Postal Road. A women was making a left turn onto Airport Road from Ave A. I was on Airport Road waiting for the light to turn so I could turn left onto Postal. She cut the turn so close she came within inches from my car. She had her cell up to her ear and was talking up a storm. I guess we have to remember these so called lawmakers the next election. Of course most of us will forget.

Once again, our state lawmakers take something that seems like common sense and prove to the public that they have none.

Perhaps we need to find out who voted no, and let them know our displeasure. Could it be that many of those that voted no are some of the biggest offenders, trying to work done while on the road??

Front row seat last Tuesday or Wednesday. Stopped at a light in Bethlehem in the right turn lane. Looked to my left just in time to see a young man in his tuner, texting on his phone oblivious to the world around him as he rear ended a full size cargo van in front of him (no seat belt either and either no air bag or it did not deploy). Needless to say, his vehicle got the brunt of the impact (destroyed the front end and blew the radiator). I stuck around to give a statement to the police who were just up the block at the local Wa Wa's.

Text doofuse's car had evidence of other accidents prior to this one...

wahh, wahh, wahh, wahh, waaaaaaaaahhhhh!

I'd bet that a complete ban on using cell phones while driving would have a far greater impact on the health and safety of Pennsylvanians than Ed Spendell's proposed ban on so-called "assault weapons".

It is great it was defeated. we need less govt in our lives not more. While this could save lives it was all about fining people. is any of the ticket money going towards a program to train drivers? Now here is the 1000$ question. Does this apply to police officers as well. I see more cops on their phones while driving than anyone else. If a ban goes in then it applies to EVERYONE not only sheeple.

So you want the government to legislate common sense? Do you have any?

If you get into an accident, what difference does it make if you were on the cell phone or just being clueless. We already have laws to prosecute the driver if you cause an accident.

Hey Mr. Know It All, here is the $1000k question...will this hurt the cell phone business? Of course it will. And do you have something against the cops??? I think so. How do you know they aren't issued phones?

Right. So let's ban old people from driving; loss of driving skill is inevitable and why go looking for trouble?

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Scorpio

Take it slowly today otherwise you'll be almost guaranteed to lose your temper and make yourself very unpopular in the process. If someone is annoying you, you won't need any encouragement to start a row because you're looking for outlets for your current ire and irritation. OK, but do your best to direct your anger at the person who deserves it and not at innocent bystanders.
