needs to call Mary Justice at the SF Sobering Center and ask her if she ever filed a complaint against Raye Byford with then Chief Denko. He has no idea about Drunk Driving because he "stole" taxpayer money to mess around with his girlfriend instead of attending a training on DWI. He didn't care back then about it and doesn't care now. Chief Denko ordered Byford to pay Mary Justice back. Sounds like fraud!
Thats so hard to beleive that Byford is cheating on Linda, NOT. Wow more truth comes out about you huh Raye, i bet you wished you would not of posted anything after all. Maybe you can move back to AZ and hide like before, You are one of the cops that just skates by and thinks that you are better then everone else, well you are not.

To me it sounds like a buch of nothing to do better cops venting on this blog. Let's get to the real issue, one might say that once is a mistake, give him, Mr. Ryan a second chance. But I have a major problem with him being in the position he is in. Is it not true that being in IA and a Lieutenant this officer has no excuse. But it already sounds like he is making excuses. Look what one mistake did to those poor children in our community, this behavior cannot be tollerated, and I agree Mr. Ryan should do the right thing. I hate to say it but this will follow him around for what ever career he has left. If you live by the sword, it is only right that you die by the sword. In this case the sword is Chief Wheeler, Chief Wheeler needs to do the right thing and act swiftly and FIRE this bad apple. What ever Mr. Ryan's problems are, what are we the citizen's to do if he kills somebody. Mr. Ryan for sure has a journey ahead of him, but let him and his friends do that on their own time. Once again I call upon Chief Wheeler to act quickly and make an example of this person, or their should be an outcry from MADD to make Mr. Ryan their new poster child.

Well first off, thats what people do is vent cops or not. Second the chief cant just fire him i dont think, what happen to his civil rights innocent till proven guilty does that ring a bell to anyone. Cops are human they make mistakes and the driver that killed those kids that was not his first, he has a long line of alcohol problems so to compare this to Ryan's mistake is to far off. The paper states that now there are two cops out on domestic battery charges with pay though and now mr ryan.

Those other cops you are talking about should be fired too, who are they, doesn't the public have the right to know who they are and what's happening in their cases. I don't think Mr. Ryan is covered by a Union contract. Look at the State Police and Albuquerque PD, their Chief's act quickly in the best interest of their respective departments, SFPD should do the right thing, it kind of sounds like you want him back on the job. Mr. Ryan should be fired quickly and made an example of, it will send a message, bad behavior will not be put up with................. You forget that Mr. Ryan is just not a cop, he is a cop that polices other cops and should be held to the highest standard, a standard for all other to follow. I do not feel sorry for drunk drivers, they kill people, vbut you may not understand that because you may not be from here, our community.

What does being from here have to do with anything, alcohol is a problem everywhere not just here and with this Officer. It sounds like you know more about this than you are letting on, talking about the contact and who is covered or not. Talk about not being part of the community, you are a wolf in sheep's clothing nothing more.

If Mr. Ryan is the highest ranking cop in IA, then what does this say for the rest of the department? Do more of them have simular problems, is someone else going to get hurt, is it time for a Citizen's Review Board, I feel it is time that the public get more involved in what the police are doing, it appears they need more oversite and control. I sure hope Chief Wheeler steps up on this one.

Lt Ryan tarnished my career also with his jadded truth or articulation of things. But i dont wish bad on anyone. God works in mysterious ways and the truth will eventually come out. It always does. All of the investigations he conducted in the last few years need to be re examined. A objective mind under the influence of drus and alcohol everyday i think not.

Mr. Ridiculous the problem I have is with officer's like you, you seem to want to brush it under the rug. Why don't you call for a Citizen Review Board. Know some of the information I mentioned is not rocket science, it's pretty much basic common knowledge.
what's also disturbing is that you are probably monitoring this blog from your office while working. If it were a fireman he or she would be fired, if it were a state worker in an administrative they would be asked to resign, why should Mr. Ryan be treated special, he needs to be fired and quickly!!!

Mayor Coss please step in and put some order to this situation, fire Mr. Ryan quickly. MADD should make Mr. Ryan a poster child if he is not terminated.

Mr. Mayor you have always taken a very strong stance on the DWI problem, please monitor this situation and ensure this bad apple is removed from our police ranks, remember those poor kids that died this past weekend. We as a community can not tollerate this behavior.

Steve keep your head up. There are those of us that will support you through this reguardless of the outcome. The charges are serious and I hope you face them with the integrity I knew you to have. May God bless you ang guide you through this trying time.
You're missing the point. Trying to deflect scrutiny on one officer by pointing out the failings of another is petty, at best.

No wonder people have so little respect for cops anymore. You all are nothing but a bunch of bickering, power hungry losers, who get off on a perpetual power trip.

Now rage about me posting anonymously, so that you can't abuse that power, look me up, and harass me.

Freedom of speech: deal with it.

I am offering support for a very good friend that happens to be a police officer facing charges. No attempt to cover anything up jost offering support. Unfortunate you perceived it that way.
