I am very sorry for everyone involved in this accident. We were on the road at 6:00 a.m. in Cranberry Twp that morning and could not see 2 car lengths in front of us. We slowed for a red light only because we live here and knew where it was supposed to be. As far as I know the police have not released the speed of anyone involved. I do know that anyone who spends their time with the EMS would never do anything they thought would take a life. They were out there on the road that morning to save a life.

North Augusta, SC.... There are two sides to everything... There are the accident victims and also the people in the ambulance. I'm pretty sure that it's not your job to decide who is stupid and who isn't. As far as I know they haven't released who was at fault yet, so it sounds to me like you are just assuming the ambulance driver was in the wrong...which may be right and may be wrong. I hope the next time you decide to call an ambulance that the driver is not "stupid" or the next time you go out in your car and daydream or aren't paying attention that you dont have a stupid moment. So before you go and criticize someone on something they do maybe you should think about what you're saying...and unfortunately accidents happen...and so do tragic accidents. This just happens to be a tragic accident.

Accidents are predictable and preventable, there for this was a crash. Pa motor vehicle code CLEARLY spells out what an ambulance can and cannot do with its lights and sirens activated. Again no fault has been placed yet, and although tragic, anyone that drives any type of emergency vehicle knows the dangers of the road. Some of those dangers include poor driving conditions but the worst is drivers who don't yield, or yield improperly. Lights and sirens on average save less than one minute in travel time, and when turned on, increase everyone's risk on the road of a crash, be it minor or severe. Some people call 9-1-1 for an ambulance because they don't have a car and don't want to pay for a taxi (an ambulance ride can average 400-600 dollars, which most people don't pay any way....). Some people abuse the 9-1-1 system and lie about the chief complaint so the ambulance gets there faster. Others call for an ambulance because they think they will be seen faster in the ED (not true, we utilize triage also and can place you in the waiting room) The cards are stacked against EMS professionals, so we need to be extra dilligent in what we do. The typical box ambulance you see on the road isn't even crash safety tested rated (chassis). It is unfortunate two men lost their lives, but it could have been worse. Oh, and on a seperate note, I didn't get a bachlors degree in emergency medicine to be called an 'ambulance driver'. You can refer to us as EMT's and Paramedics.

If accidents are predictable and preventable then why in the hell do so many people have them every day? You think the driver WANTED to kill two people? DO you think she predicted she was going to do that? Why dont you look up the word "accident" in the dictionary, mr "bachlors" degree in emergency medicine (didn't teach you how to spell either huh?). You should just thank God that you never have had an "accident".

Reading these nasty replies to each other is sad and disheartening. I dont think either of the men who lost thier lives would want this to turn people against each other. We know they didnt hear or see the ambulance or would have never pulled out only to be hit and the EMT's were only trying to get help as quickly as possible. Please stop this bickering and pray for those who lost these men and dont turn on people in the medical field who live to help others. It's a terribly sad situation for all parties but this will not help... my heart goes out to anyone hurt by this painful situation.

I know when Phillips mother called me Wednesday night to tell me that he had been killed in the accident she was really upset. It took me a few minutes to digest what she was saying because I had just talked to him a couple of weeks ago.. I know he wouldn't want this but I also know he didn't want to die so young either. It has left a huge hole in my heart for him... Like I said I would be able to pick up the phone and call him anymore or have him calling me and just chatting about anything.. And whether or not the others understand that it hurts terribly... My son doesn't understand what happend to our friend... He was like an uncle to him... I told my husband that I will miss him greatly and that I hope that when his mother decides to hold his services that I can get up there to pa for it because I know he would have liked that... He truly was a nice and friendly person too bad some of the people on here will never get to know that....

As Sgt. Seibert has said, the accident is still under investigation. There will be answers. And until those answers are revealed, it is irresponsible to pass judgment on anybody. It doesn't take a degree in ANY discipline to know that this is a horrible accident and that regardless of the answers, two people that meant something to somebody are gone. We are entitled to our opinions (I wouldn't be surprised if criminal charges are filed). But until those answers come about, all the hostile conjecture in the world doesn't serve any purpose but to inflame. Wait for the information. Then call each other names. Until then, show a modicum of respect for each other. I'm fairly certain nobody got behind the wheels of their vehicles wanting this tragedy to happen.

Well now that the driver has been charged I can officially say that the girl killed my friend because of her stupid actions of drinking and driving and not turning on the siren and speeding when she shouldn't have been when there was a do not resucitate order on the patient... So I lost a friend for nothing because of a stupid person's actions and I really think that was wrong....It still hurts to not be able to pick up that phone and call him and to have him call me and say Hey Darlin what ya doing? What's going on? Its still not any easier to deal with and I still wonder what he thought at those last moments... I just wish I could have told him that I loved him as a dear friend... One more time before it happend...I know though that he is up in heaven and I will see him one day...

It been almost two years since this happened and I don't think a day still goes by that I don't think of my friend and miss him and wish that I had him to still talk to. I hope that he is at peace in heaven and that he knows how very much he is missed. That justice has been served as well as it could. RIP Phillip Love and Miss You Always.

First, I feel very sorry for the family and friends of the two who were killed, its a horrible thing. I would like to add--in Cranberry TWP especially-people need to be more kind and mindful when driving. So many accidents can be prevented.
For instance, many times I am pulling out to make a turn on roads with oncoming traffic...and people behind me will beep their horns
incessantly because I am not pulling out fast enough for their liking. It's ridiculous- I am not going to risk my own life and pull out in front of cars too soon, simply because someone else is in such a rush. And wow...for what, to save an extra 2 seconds maybe? They always end up sitting at the next red light just like me. Sorry to get off topic, but I think it needs to be said. People need to be a bit more courteous of others when driving, take their time, and let people pull out when they feel ready! The few seconds it saves you is really not worth someones life--so think about it next time before you start laying on the horn and pressuring someone to pull out. It could end up fatal.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Gemini

Beware of taking on too much because it will be an effort to get through it all. You might even have to give up the unequal struggle, which won't do much for your ego or your reputation. Be especially careful about this if you're at work because a certain person may try to take advantage of what they see as your weakness or failure to deliver the goods.
