We need some way to get some jobs & money circulating for this town. Internet seems to be the thing that is going now. If there was a way to tap into it. To get some money & jobs going using it for our town.

Good Luck! This town is full of pessimistic people, it will be very hard to convince anyone that something positive can happen. But, that being said. I am all for you.

Complacency is killing not just our communities (I live in Christopher), but our country ! No parents attend school board meetings, city council meetings, etc; but the same ones that don't attend complain. I wish you luck in your cry for help !
God bless our kids and our country !

How does the city council fire someone who is doing a job, willing to get whatever certificate needed to advance in his job by stating there is no longer a need for the job. Then in nearly same breath hire the former water superintendent's grandson to fill the same exact job. He has no more qualifications than the first guy they just fired. Sounds like a Pam perry, Vera Mills, and Don Hall scandal. Nepotism at its finest. Fire them all!!! People need to attend city council meeting and see the circus that these three create.Again Fire them all.

I suggested a farmers market. It's a little thing, but it may bring people down town. But nobody listened.

A Farmer's Market is a great idea. However, the policy maker's of our little depressing town appear to like the direction things are going, NOWHERE! Change starts by voting! The younger generation, which I would identify myself with, needs to be proactive and become involved! This will remain a "retirement" town only if we allow it. Anyone ready to get the ball rolling?

Hey, if Royalton can get a Dollar General, why can't we get one as well? It could go where Kohlsdorf's was!

I agree. We really need younger leaders. I have always thought of zeigler as for the elderly. I wish that things would change.

Car wash wouldn't be a bad idea either, I would also like to see something for kids. I know when i was younger, we had an arcade, and pizza joint we could hang out at. There also used to be the snowcone stand on the circle.

I'm intrigued with the farmers market idea, or even something once a year like a city wide yard sale where people could set up around the circle and stuff. Auctions are another thing that could be heald, like every third month or periodicle like that.

Dear vinge, you must be psychic! The word is that Vera sold her building to the pain management dr and he is wanting to make an arcade center for tweens and teens to hang out, especially latch-key kids whose parents work and can't be there when they get home from school.sounds great if we don't screw it up! Pray for this!

The first step to growth is to unite and work together as a community by volunteering your time.
The lewd comments about others on here are very hurtful and definately not leading in the right direction. Those commented about spend many hours volunteering their time to help make their town move forward. Unless you can say you volunteer as much or more hours, then I probably would not make bad comments. Negativity is not a good start to prosperity.

Umm.. no arcade center for tweens (rumor that is wrong) they are destructive and don't care about anyone else's property... He is making apartments from what I understand and maybe a laundromat. What we need to do is support what businesses are here so they feel that as a town we are supporting our own. Who cares about VM, DH, and all of the rest.. lets get new people in office and clean up some of the junk homes in zeigler and create better housing for all.
There is the Cafe, and a Video Store, 2 Daycares and thats it... I am surprised they are here with as tight as most people are in this town... The recession is something we make... because we are scared ... SO LETS SPEND AND HELP THEM OUT so they can succeed and show everyone else this is a great town to live in!!!

Car Wash, Farmers Market are excellent ideas !!! What about a Craft Fair every so often for the town. It could draw others to our town to come look. There is bound to be alot of people in the town who has craft making qualities here. For example, wood making ( even small items), Quilt Making, Crotching, Knitting, or Cross Stitching. This is just a few ideas & examples. There is bound to be many others. But, would need ideas of where to have it at here in Zeigler???

Good idea, Mrs. S. Just look what the Quilt Fair does for Paducah, people plan their vacations around it and business owners offer special activities to interest the men as well. Zeigler couild team up with Royalton perhaps .

The only thing about having 1 of those outside is the weather could make things bad for it. But, if could have it inside. Than even in rainy weather was here, than can still have it. And, yes maybe Royalton too.

Daily Horoscope for December 16

Scorpio

If you're concerned about finding the cash for what usually turns out be an expensive month, the New Moon is the time to start on a budget or some other financial strategy. Try talking to an expert during the coming fortnight, or simply decide to cut down on your expenses. Don't spend so much on presents this year.
