Why is Zeigler weeds, junk & Grass ordinance being inforced so much?

Just curious, of why this little town of Zeigler? Is enforcing the Grass, Weeds & junk ordinance so much here lately? Is the city broke and in need of money that badly? Or is some of the more particular people of the time got too much time on there hands and nothing better to do? I heard that city board members ride around on there scooters keeping tabs on certain ones. If this is such a big problem for this big ole city of Zeigler. Instead of just riding around on there scooters. Why don't they stop and see if they could use some help getting things up to there standards. I see alot of older people in this town. Maybe they could use the help. Or is the town just broke and looking to make money ??? If these are older people all over this town. Odds are that most are living on there retirements. Maybe they have a money tree out back some where ???

Enforcement is not about the money. Its about making people follow the rules. Do so, and you leave the enforcers nothing to do. By not following the rules, you are just handing the money over to them.

Rules are fine. But, what do people do when the rules get carried away. And, some get to bend them while others can't? Especially when the ones bending them are family of city officials ?

i have only 1 question,& it pertains to the city ordinances.When all these junk cars were being fined & towed (forcibly) did anyone notice the MAYOR'S yard?? A garaged with the roof falling in and TWO junk cars that have not been moved or even stared in years.Trust me,they are junk!He lives @ 109 Wilcox-go see yourself.B.T.w.,i FOR getting rid of clunkers as they are dangerous & health hazards but it is "do as i say,not as i do"

In addition to my last post i would like to encourage Zeigler residents that do play by the rules & make an honest effort to keep your residence clean to go take pictures of his "car collection."If you or someone you know is being fined you will have documented solid evidence of HIS ordinance violations.Oh,also ask him about the pig he has/had living INSIDE his house!Don't believe me?Ask him yourself.

Quite frankly, I'm ashamed that I came to this site. I was speaking to a friend that lives in Zeigler and was told to come here for city news. This is not "news".

They were buying what they thought was a pot belly pig and what they ended up with was a plain old PIG! ROFLMAO

I can't believe they have that huge thing in the house!!!

Seems like there is an ordinance about having farm animals within city limits!

why are ome people allowed to have chickens running all over their yard and then able to get away with shooting some little boys pet dog and have nothing done about it. Also his yard is full of junk if you want to talk about a junkyard go look on oak st.

Why doesn't someone make this man clean up his yard. It's a toxic waste land. His chickens run every where and he has killed numerous pets belonging to neighbors. He gets away with discharging a firearm in city limits.

i think that the weeds and junk allow bugs to get out of control. we can not enjoy our yard because the bugs are so bad. we use bug spray every time we are out side and my little boys are still covered with bites. it is about more than money it is about public health. reguardless of age the ruls must be followed.

Since when have people become scum ?? I was always taught people are created equal.And, i think as far as the bugs & such. The bugs been getting worse for a long time now. Has anyone noticed the increase in the wasps this year ? And, the decrease in the small birds? For instance, the blue birds, or finches ? The birds eat bugs. So less birds could = more bugs.

I am coming to Mayor's defense: last summer he rode with the city workers up and down the alleys looking for used tires and offered to remove them for free. He was in his bibbed overalls, not afraid to get dirty or sweaty, trying to remove the primary source of mosquito infestation! I don't see VM doing this!

Why are they enforcing this law, what do you mean. Take a look around this town! The house across the street from me and the house to the east of me is total shit. The one house has no one living in it, and the other i'm not sure how people are living in it. Its distugsting. I don't think the law is being enforced enough if you ask me.

Well, Vinge Have you ever offered to see if the neighbors need any help of making things look better ? Have you ever thought it could be possible. That things get that way do to reasons. For instance, sickness or lack of money, or job loss. So many people have lost there jobs & have gotten ill. Instead of critisizing maybe offer a helping hand.
