Looks like the wonderbread world of Zeeland is feeling a little nervouse about their quiet existance. I'm suprised they have time to investigate this since they've enacted the clutterless porch ordinance. As far as Gonzalez moving in and starting all of this, this is a free country, and unless you have a homeownwers association (i'd be suprised if you didn't) with rules that forbid renting, parties, etc, then leave him alone.

The arrogance of Americans is evident in letters column

Letters to the editor

There have been so many "God talks" and minority bashings (be it illegal immigrants, homosexuals, Muslims and others). Why do people like to judge others so quickly and believe that they have the right answers and they know what God wants us to do?

Every coin has two equally valuable sides; we should not judge which side is better or right and should leave the judging to the ultimate Reality or God. Our duty on Earth is to love, respect and help others as much as we can, create peace and happiness for them, in their own ways. Even if the others have hurt us, love them, respect them and help them anyway; we'll be rewarded with peace and happiness as well. Think of "judging" as a sin!

James Higgins (Sentinel, Thursday) labels illegal immigrants as criminals. They have definitely broken our "human" laws, out of desperation for their family's survival. They have subjected themselves to oppressions and exploitations. They do pay taxes (with their fake Social Security cards) without any chance of any benefit from it.

We conveniently forget the benefits we reap from these poor, hard-working humans. These people come here to survive and to improve their living standards. They do not harm, cheat, exploit, kill, enslave, chase people away from their homesteads and send them to "reservations" camps and force people to abandon their faiths and traditions as some uninvited "criminals" did here in the past.

Jeremy Vandeburg (Sentinel, Thursday) arrogantly thinks he knows who God is (his god) and dares to speak on His behalf, because he is convinced that God is not capable to do it on His own. Most "homosexuals" and most "straight" people are people with dignity. Rotten "apples" come from both camps.

We, Americans, are addicted bullies. We have to have our way or else. We think we have to teach others, without being willing to learn from others, because we think they are below our "value."

Addicts have to hit bottom before they can begin to recover. The process has started; other countries own more and more of our assets and we will soon be dictated to by our new masters. We are shooting ourselves in the foot with our insatiable appetite of crude oil. America is hated all over the world because of its arrogance and self-righteousness.

We have to wake up before it is too late. We have to acknowledge what we have done wrong and change direction.
